Men's Swimming & Diving Notch a Pair of Event Wins in Dual Meet Loss at Florida Southern

The Emory University Men's Swimming and Diving team returned to action to begin the spring semester on Friday, falling to Division II's Florida Southern College, 131-74, in a dual meet in Lakeland, FL.

Senior Oliver Smith and the 200 Freestyle Relay featuring Smith, sophomore Sage Ono, junior Trey Kolleck and senior Aaron Schwartz highlighted Emory at the meet, winning a pair of events for the Eagles. Smith claimed Emory's lone individual victory as he touched first in the 50 Freestyle in a time of 21.30 and later, swam the anchor leg in the 200 Free Relay as the group threw down a mark of 1:23.95.

Freshman Kellen Stillman paced Emory in two solo events, taking second in the 500 Freestyle (4:48.87) and third in the 200 Freestyle (1:44.88). Other top finishers for the Eagles on Friday were junior Thomas Gordon in the 1,000 Freestyle (2nd, 9:54.41), sophomore Evan Brock in the 200 Butterfly (2nd, 1:56.30), senior Alexander Hardwick in the 100 Freestyle (3rd, 47.13), junior Matt Rogers in the 200 Backstroke (3rd, 1:54.95) and senior John Copses in the 200 Breaststroke (3rd, 2:15.52).

Emory added a second place effort in the 400 Medley Relay as Smith, Ono, freshman Yuhan Liu and senior Cooper Tollen posted a time of 3:31.09.

The Eagles continue their spring semester next Saturday with a tri-meet in Cleveland, MS against West Florida and Delta State. The tri-meet is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM EST.
