Twenty-One Emory Athletes Named To UAA Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team

Twenty-one Emory University student-athletes were named to the seventh-annual University Athletic Association Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced by the conference earlier in the week.

The 2014-15 Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team comprised 92 total athletes from all eight UAA member institutions across 12 men’s sports and 10 women’s sports.  To achieve the recognition, a student-athlete must earn first team All-Association honors and carry a 3.50 or greater cumulative grade point average during that playing season.

Two of the Emory honorees – McKenna Newsum-Schoenberg and Andrew Wilson – earned UAA Swimmer of the Year Awards in their respective sports this past season.

The UAA Presidents Council created the special recognition in 2009.  The original recommendation to establish the honor came from the UAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was supported by the Athletic Administrators and Delegates Committees.
