Emory Track & Field Teams Open Indoor Season Friday with BSC Icebreaker

The Emory University Track and Field teams kick off the 2018-19 indoor season this Friday, November 30th, with the Birmingham-Southern Panther Icebreaker which will be held at the Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.

The all-day meet is set to begin with the field events at 10:00 AM EST with the men's and women's weight throws. The track events will start at 10:30 AM EST and run through the men's and women's 4x400m Relay at 7:15 PM EST. For a full schedule of events, please click here. The meet will also feature live results which can be found here.

The Emory women return a talented core for the upcoming indoor campaign, headlined by returning All-Americans in seniors Dani Bland and Dilys Osei and 2016-17 indoor All-American senior Arianna Newhouse. Bland, the reigning University Athletic Association Most Outstanding Performer, captured All-America honors in both the 60m and 200m Dashes and in the 4x400m Relay with Osei as the relay finished as national runner-ups. In addition to Bland and Osei, both of whom won UAA titles, junior Greta Wilker is another indoor UAA champion back in fold as she took home first place in last year's shot put. The women also return USTFCCCA All-Region performers in senior Jordan Small, junior Paris Wagner and sophomores Rebekah Bondi, Andi Breitowich and Carrie McIntyre.

On the men's side, the Eagles will be looking to fill some spots left by last year's departing senior class but return a strong veteran group that includes USTFCCCA All-Region honorees junior Luis Torres, junior Alex Rand, junior Samuel Branson and sophomore Jacob Hedgepeth. Branson and Rand were honored as part of the Distance Medley Relay while Hedgepeth earned kudos for the 800m Run and Torres for the 5000m Run.

Full results of Friday's BSC Panther Icebreaker will be posted to emoryathletics.com at the conclusion of the meet.
