Women's 4x400, Benjamin Rogin Named UAA Track Athletes of the Week

The Emory University Track and Field programs saw five student-athletes earn University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

The women’s 4x400m Relay team of junior Dilys Osei, sophomore Kaitlyn Leonard, junior Dani Bland and senior Erica Goldman was recognized after the group broke the school record on Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational. As the only Division III relay in the event, the Eagles finished second in the 16-team field with a time of 3:44.64, topping the previous school record of 3:45.92. The new high mark currently ranks first in the country by a commanding 6.62 seconds.

Osei, Bland and Goldman also shined in the 4x100m with freshman Rebekah Bondi, placing seventh with a time of 47.18. Their time was the fastest by an Emory relay so far this season, ranks seventh on the school’s all-time list and is currently fourth in Division III.

Senior Benjamin Rogin set a pair of personal-records at the Georgia Tech Invitational as he was named the Men’s Track Co-Athlete of the Week for the second time this outdoor season. Rogin posted UAA-leading marks of 14.75 in the 110m Hurdles and 54.58 in the 400m Hurdles and currently ranks among the best in the nation in both events, ranking 15th in the 110m Hurdles and 24th in the 400m Hurdles. His times also moved him up on the Emory all-time ranks as he now sits second in the 100m Hurdles and fifth in the 400m Hurdles.

All five Eagles will be in action this weekend as Emory travels to Pittsburgh, PA for the UAA Outdoor Championships at Carnegie Mellon University.
