The Emory Athletics Weekly Preview for March 21st – March 27th. This preview is to serve as a weekly snapshot of all upcoming Emory athletic events for the coming week.

Track & Field:

The Emory University track & field teams will play host to the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open, marking their second consecutive home meet. The women's track & field team took home gold at the Emory Spring Break Classic with 161.33 points while the men came in second posting 94 points. The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 25th at 12:00 PM and is slated for a 10:00 AM start time on Saturday, March 26th. There are 17 teams set to compete in the men's division and 18 teams set to compete in the women's division. Sophomore Tristan Olpin had a standout day for the eagles this past weekend crossing the finish line in 8:45.17 in the 3,000m run earning him a first place finish at the meet and also marking the seventh fastest time in program history. On the field for the women, freshman Sarah Fineman recorded the seventh best distance in program history in the shot put event when she threw for 12.51m on Saturday.

Softball:

The Emory University softball team opens UAA play this weekend with a four-game home series against the Carnegie Mellon Tartans. The Eagles (10-6) will bring a four-game winning streak into the series against the Tartans (9-6) on Friday, March 25th at 3:00 PM at Cooper Field. After Friday's game, the Eagles and Tartans will play a doubleheader on Saturday before closing the series with one final game at 11:00 AM on Sunday. Emory holds a 4-0 all-time series advantage over Carnegie Mellon most recently playing in 2019. Senior Mattie Ryan has been nothing short of spectacular this season and that was no different this past weekend where she earned two wins in the circle, pitching a combined 7.0 innings while giving up no earned runs on just four hits. She also had consecutive three-hit games with her three hits in the second game against Webster all being doubles to help the Eagles win 6-5 in extra innings.

Baseball:

Coming off of a 2-1 weekend against cross-town foe Oglethorpe, the Emory University baseball team will open conference play this weekend with a four-game home series against the Case Western Reserve Spartans. The Eagles (13-8) will begin their first slate of conference games since the 2019 season with a series against the Spartans (6-9) that is slated to begin on Friday, March 25th at 3:00 PM at Chappell Park. Emory holds a 34-17 all-time series record advantage over Case Western Reserve with their most recent matchup ending in a 10-6 decision in the Eagles favor. Senior Jack Brodsky had a stellar showing on the mound against Oglethorpe this past weekend, pitching 5.0 innings and giving up just one hit to earn his first win of the season.

Men's Tennis:

The Emory University men's tennis team will take to the road for its match on Saturday against the Sewanee Tigers. After the Eagles (5-6) finished seventh at the Stag-Hen Invitational this past weekend they will look to bounce back with their matchup against the Tigers (2-10) at 1:00 PM on Saturday March 26th in Sewanee, TN. Emory holds a 31-4 record against Sewanee all-time and have not lost a match to the Tigers since 1989.

Women's Tennis:

The Emory University women's tennis team will travel to Sewanee, TN on Sunday to face-off against the Sewanee Tigers. After dropping their last match to Division-II opponent Columbus State, the Eagles (4-5) look to get back into the win column Sunday, March 27th at 2:00 PM against the Tigers (7-2). Emory holds a 47-12 all-time series advantage over Sewanee with the Eagles having won their last 19 meetings.
