Emory Golf Programs Selected to NCAA Championships

The No. 1 ranked Emory University women's golf team and the No. 2 ranked Emory University men's golf team each have been selected to compete at the 2022 NCAA DIII Golf Championships as announced Monday evening.

The women's team is one of 29 teams selected to compete in the championships that are set to take place at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX from May 10-13. The Eagles come into the tournament seeded first with conference foe No. 2 Carnegie Mellon seeded second and No. 6 Williams earning the third seed. On top of the 29 teams, six individuals from non-qualifying schools were selected bringing the field to 151 golfers.

This marks Emory's women's golf team's second consecutive appearance in the NCAA DIII Championships after earning a seventh place finish at the 2021 NCAA Championships.

After 54-holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams to compete in the final day of competition.

The men's team was one of 43 programs selected to participate in the championships that are set to get underway at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL on May 10-13. The Eagles were one of two teams, along with Babson, to be selected into Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the qualifications for automatic qualification. There were 32 teams that earned automatic qualification berths and the other nine berths were reserved for Pool C, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams. An additional six individuals were selected from teams that did not qualify for the Championships to bring the field to 221 total golfers.

Emory's men's team will be making its sixth consecutive and 24th total appearance at nationals in the 37-year history of the program. This marks the eighth appearance in eleven years under the stewardship of head coach John Sjoberg and finished sixth at last year's championships.

After 36-holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams to compete in the final 36-holes of competition.
