24 Eagles Named to USTFCCCA South/Southeast All-Region Team

The Emory University track & field teams had a combined 24 student-athletes named to the South/Southeast Outdoor All-Region Team as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday afternoon. The Eagles finished with 35 All-Region accolades between its 24 athletes.

To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team. The organization first began recognizing All-Region winners in 2016.

The women's team had 15 women named to the All-Region team, combining for 21 All-Region accolades between them. Junior Annika Urban, who earned All-American status in the 1,500m run at the NCAA Championships, earned All-Region honors in the 1,500m run and the 5,000m run registering as the top finisher in both events. Freshman Dashiel Tao Harris finished with the most All-Region selections earning three distinctions. Harris earned a spot for her performance in the 400m dash as well as both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Along with Harris, sophomore Ella Lavelle, senior Jessica Barbarosh and freshman Kaya Binetti landed on the All-Region team as members of the 4x100 relay while Harris was joined by Binetti, sophomore Libby Ranocha and senior Hannah Lansberry as members of the 4x400 relay team. Ranocha landed a second All-Region accolade for her performance in the 400m dash. In the 800m run, sophomore Lily Taylor and senior Lauren Cunild both earned All-Region distinctions.

In the longer distance events senior Bella Racette earned two All-Region selections, one for her showing in the 5,000m run and another for her performance in the 3,000m steeplechase. Freshman Savannah Haushalter also earned a spot on the All-Region team in the 3,000m steeplechase. Junior Claire Evans was the only Eagle hurdler to earn an All-Region selection which she earned in the 400m hurdles event. On the field, junior Hope Jackson finished as the top regional finisher in the discus throw. Freshman Sarah Fineman earned All-Region honors in the shot put while senior Alex Devaux registered an All-Region accolade for the hammer throw.

The men's team had nine named to the All-Region team, combining for 14 selections between them. Graduate student Liam Fost and freshman Jackson Price, both NCAA Championship qualifiers in two relay events, led the way with three All-Region honors. Both were members of the All-Region 4x100 relay team which consisted of freshman Sam Ryba and senior Thomas Davis as well as members of the All-Region 4x400 relay team alongside teammates Davis and sophomore Dawit Dean with both relay teams finishing atop the region. Fost earned his third All-Region selection in the 400m dash while Price earned his third in the 200m dash. Senior Spencer Moore, also an NCAA Championship qualifier, was recognized with an All-Region selection in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Over on the field, graduate student Maxwell Prizant earned All-Region honors in the pole vault while both sophomore Kenya Sei and Michael Tiffin were recognized with All-Region distinctions in the hammer throw.
