Women's Basketball:

The Emory University women's basketball team earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 2019 by virtue of an at-large bid as announced on Monday afternoon and are set to travel to Lexington, Kentucky for their first round matchup. The Eagles (17-7, 8-6 UAA) will travel to Lexington on Friday at 5:45 PM to take on the No. 23 ranked Millikin Big Blue (23-4, 15-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) who earned an automatic bid into the tournament as a result of winning the CCIW Tournament. This is the Eagles fifth ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and Head Coach Mischa Jackson's second appearance at the head of the program. The Eagles and Big Blue have only faced off once before and the meeting came back in the 1997 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 with Millikin advancing with a 51-43 victory. Should the Eagles win against Millikin on Friday, they will face the winner of host school No. 2 ranked Transylvania (27-0) and Rhodes (17-11) in the NCAA Second Round at 8:30 PM on Saturday. The Eagles enter the contest as winners of five of their past seven contests including a win over tournament team Chicago. Emory enters into the tournament as the nations 16th ranked team in three major statistical categories: assist/turnover ratio (1.14), defensive rebounds per game (30.9) and opponents three-point percentage (23.1%). In a pivotal matchup to the Eagles postseason hopes against Rochester, senior Claire Brock helped Emory grit out a 55-53 win as she scored a team-high 15 points while also pulling down eight rebounds.

Men's Basketball:

The Emory University men's basketball team was selected for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament on Monday afternoon with their first round matchup set to take place on Friday. The Eagles (17-8, 8-6 UAA) will travel to Hampden Sydney, Virginia on Friday at 7:20 PM for their first round matchup against host No. 20 ranked Hampden-Sydney (21-6, 14-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) who made the tournament via an at-large bid after losing in the semi-finals of their conference tournament. This marks the Eagles tenth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament which stands as the longest active postseason streak in Division III. The Eagles have only faced the Hampden-Sydney Tigers three times before, most recently in 2017, and the Tigers hold a slight 2-1 edge over Emory in those matchups. If the Eagles defeat the Tigers on Friday they would advance to the second round where they would face off against the winner of the No. 2 ranked Christopher Newport (24-3) and Farmingdale State (21-7) matchup on Saturday in Hampden Sydney. The Eagles enter into the matchup with the Tigers having won two straight including one over tournament team Rochester. Emory enters the tournament as one of the grittiest teams in the nation as they stand 18th in the nation in opponents FG% (38.5%) and 28th in rebounds per game (42.5). With the Eagles still on the bubble, sophomore Cale Martens turned in one of the best performances of his career in the Eagles defeat of Rochester, notching 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting while also pulling down ten rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season.
