Three Eagles Chosen as UAA Athletes of the Week

Three Emory University student-athletes were chosen as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Seniors Megan Jungers and Alex York from swimming & diving were honored as was sophomore Henry Brandstadter from track & field. This is the third weekly honor for York this season and the third for Jungers in her career and first this season. For Brandstadter, this marks his second weekly award for the indoor season and sixth of his career.

Jungers touched first in three different events on Saturday, helping the Eagles defeat Centre in the Senior Day dual meet. Jungers was a two-time individual winner with a sweep in the Backstroke events, recording times of 56.32 in 100 and 2:04.91 in the 200. Her mark in the 100 also represented the Eagles' lone NCAA B cut of the afternoon. Jungers also began the meet with a win in the 200 Mixed Medley, swimming leadoff to help the Eagles' A team post a time of 1:37.77.

York registered two top-three showings on Saturday as he placed second in the 3-meter event at 305.47 and took third in the 1-meter at 277.58.

At the Camel City Invitational in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Brandstadter shined as he took home a first place finish in the long jump with a distance of 7.23m. His distance is the second best in school history and now holds seven of the top-ten best distances in the program record book. The distance of 7.23 also ranks sixth in Division III so far this season.
