James Christie was named the Aquatics Coordinator in February of 2024. 

Christie joins the Emory staff following a brief stint as the Aquatics Facility Supervisor with the City of Atlanta. There, he managed four indoor pool facilities as well as 12 outdoor facilities comprising 22 independent bodies of water with the Parks and Recreation Department. Christie also helped design and implement the lifeguard training program that certified 120 lifeguards for the upcoming Summer season.

Prior to his role with City of Atlanta, Christie was the Co-Founder and Head Swim Coach with Dragon Swim Team, LLC and has also served as head coach with Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, FL and as a personal swim instructor.

Before joining the Eagles full time in his Aquatics Coordinator position, Christie was on the Emory coaching staff as a volunteer assistant while also acting as an assistant coach with the Eagle Swim Club.

Christie earned a BS in English at Eastern Michigan University, where he was a school and MAC conference record holder. Following his undergraduate career at EMU, Christie earned a Gold and Silver Medal at the 2005 World Masters Games in the 50 and 100 Meter Backstrokes.
