(June 4) Two Emory University players were recognized in the voting for the all-region team conducted by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Pitcher Jason Glushon was named to the all-region second team and catcher Griffin Baum received honorable mention. This is the first such honor for either player.

Glushon, a sophomore, led the team in wins with a 5-0 record and added two saves. He compiled a 2.55 earned run average, the fourth-best in Emory history for a first-year starter (minimum 50 innings pitched). Glushon worked into the sixth inning in seven of his 10 starts.

Baum also was honored on the all-conference second team and as the team's Most Improved Player. The sophomore catcher led the team in on-base percentage (.443) and was second in batting average (.343), home runs (3) and slugging percentage (.515).

Emory has had an all-region honoree every year since the varsity baseball program was reinstated in 1991. In that time, 56 Eagles have been recognized on the all-region team or received honorable mention.

(May 31) Justin Gordon has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America third team for baseball. He previously made the Academic All-District first team.

Gordon, who played second base and designated hitter, finished with a .320 batting average, his third season of hitting .300 or better. He had a 3.94 GPA while pursuing a major in chemistry and a minor in economics.

This is the fifth consecutive year that an Emory player has been voted to the Academic All-America team. Gordon is the eighth Emory honoree in the last eight years.

Voting for the Academic All-America team is conducted by a national committee composed of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible, a nominee must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 GPA and a starter or key reserve on their team. Emory nominees are placed in the "college division" category, which is composed of all NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools.

(May 12) Emory University juniors Taylor Gettinger and Justin Gordon have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team. Both names will be placed on the national ballot for the Academic All-America team to be announced in June.

This is the first time either has received this honor. This is the second consecutive year at least two players from Emory have made the 11-player all-district first team.

Gettinger, an infielder, led the team with a .388 batting average and .527 slugging percentage in his first season as a regular starter. He had a 3.50 cumulative grade point average as a double major in economics and psychology.

Gordon, who played second base and designated hitter, finished with a .320 batting average, his third season of hitting .300 or better. He had a 3.94 GPA while pursuing a major in chemistry and a minor in economics.

Emory's all-district honorees last year were Sam Cunningham, Bryan Langbord and Travis Langley, the first two who missed nearly all of this season with injuries.

Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America in the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. To be eligible, a nominee must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 GPA and a starter or key reserve on their team. Emory nominees are placed in the "college division" category, which is composed of all NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools.

(April 28) Josh Barrett drove in a run and Will Carr picked up the win in their final games for Emory University, as the Eagles defeated the 19th ranked team in the nation, LaGrange College (Ga.), by a score of 5-4.

Carr, who allowed four runs in seven innings, won his fourth game of the season and the 27th game of his career. Carr, who tied the NCAA all-division record with 26 consecutive victories earlier this season, finished third in school history for career wins.

Barrett went 1-for-5 in the game. He ends his Emory career with 94 stolen bases, the most in school history. His 32 stolen bases this year are the fifth most in NCAA Division III.

Taylor Gettinger went 3-for-5 to finish with to a team-leading .388 batting average. Besides batting average, Gettinger led the team in runs batted in (29) and extra-base hits (13), and was second on the team with 28 runs scored.

Emory finishes the regular season with a 21-18 record. This is the 14th consecutive season the Eagles have finished with a winning record.

(April 27) Emory University lost a 10-3 ballgame to North Georgia College, the 14th ranked team in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Josh Barrett had two hits and drove in two runs for the Eagles in the loss. In his senior season, Barrett leads the team in hits (52), runs (32) and stolen bases (32). He is third on the team with 21 runs batted in.

Brandon Custer came off the bench to go 2-for-2 with a double and a pinch-hit RBI single in the seventh inning. Alex Sotiriou added two hits and a run for the Eagles.

Earlier in the season, the Eagles defeated North Georgia, then ranked 12th in the NAIA. Emory will head to LaGrange College (GA) on Wednesday for its final game of the season.

(April 24) Emory University lost its second extra-inning game this weekend to No. 12 Methodist College (NC) by a score of 6-5. In their final home game of the season, the Eagles made their second late-inning rally of the weekend with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. However, after three scoreless innings on both sides, Methodist scored a run in the top of the twelfth inning, which Emory failed to answer.

Ian Ganzer pitched 5.2 innings of scoreless relief. The right-hander fanned five batters and yielded just two hits. In 51.2 innings pitched this season, Ganzer has 49 strikeouts and just 14 walks.

Justin Gordon, Taylor Gettinger and Joe Roth had multi-hit games. The infielders each had a hit during the eighth-inning rally that eventually sent the game into extra innings.

Gordon went 3-for-5 with a walk, a run and a stolen base. The second baseman went 5-for-10 this weekend. For the season, he is third on the team in hitting with a .341 batting average.

Gettinger went 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI and two walks. On the season, his .392 batting average leads the Eagles.

Roth, a freshman, went 2-for-6 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base. Roth is batting .321 on the season, tops among Emory's many first-year players.

Catcher Mike Levin anchored the Emory defense, catching all 12 innings of the game without letting a pitch get by him. He also picked off a runner and caught a runner stealing in the second inning, helping Emory out of a jam. Offensively, Levin added a hit and a sacrifice fly.

The Eagles compiled a 12-9 record at home this season. They play two more road games to finish out the season.

(April 23) Emory University honored Josh Barrett, Will Carr, Kris Herring and Bryan Langbord on Senior Day at Chappell Park. However, the Eagles fell to Methodist College (NC) 7-6 in extra innings.

After falling behind early in the game, the Eagles slowly crept back and tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Barrett singled to left field. Alex Sotiriou and Clayton Laforge scored on the play. Taylor Gettinger then drove Barrett in with a line drive up the middle, tying the game 6-6.

However, the Eagles allowed a run in the top of the tenth, falling to a 20-16 record.

In spite of the loss, Barrett celebrated senior day with three hits, two runs, an RBI, a stolen base and an outfield assist. The center fielder is batting .340 on the season and leads Emory in runs and stolen bases with 32 in each category. For his career, the senior has 109 runs scored and 94 stolen bases in 131 games played.

Carr and Herring both made appearances in the game. They combined for 6.2 innings pitched, yielding two earned runs and striking out two batters. For his career Carr posts a 26-4 record, boasting the thrid most wins in school history. Herring, who has battled through injuries, has a 3-2 record for his career.

The Eagles play their final home game of the season against Methodist College tomorrow at Chappell Park.

(April 21) Griffin Baum had three hits, including his third home run of the season, as Emory Univeristy fell to Maryville College (Tenn.) 11-5.

Baum's home run was a part of a five-run third inning to bring the Eagles within two, 6-4. Senior center fielder Josh Barrett also knocked in a run and scored in that inning. The five run third inning marks the fifth time this season that Emory scored five or more runs in an inning.

Designated hitter Taylor Gettinger went 2-for-3 with two doubles and runs batted in.

Ryan Lumsden, Jason Glushon, and Keith Meizler pitched four innings combined allowing one unearned run.

Bo Schill, Joe Roth, Frank Pfister and Justin Gordon all recorded one hit.

Senior Day is this Saturday at 1 pm against Methodist College at home.

(April 19) Emory University salvaged a mid-week doubleheader with Huntingdon College (AL), winning the second game after losing the first.

Kris Herring led the Eagles to a 6-1 win in the second game of the doubleheader, allowing no earned runs in his first start of the season. Herring pitched five innings, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out three.

The Eagles bullpen took over where Herring left off. Will Carr followed Herring, allowing only one walk and no hits over the next 2 2/3 innings. Keith Meizler, ninth in NCAA Division III in saves, retired the last four batters in order to pick up his sixth save of the year.

Joe Roth went 3-for-4, and finished the day a homerun shy of the cycle. The freshman had a sacrifice fly and two RBIs, along with three runs scored and two stolen bases in the game.

In the first game, a 9-4 Eagles' loss, Josh Barrett stole three bases giving him 31 on the season, the second-highest season total in school history next to the 50 bases Barrett stole in 2004. The senior, who holds the school record for career stolen bases, has 93 for his career.

Ryan Lollar hit his third homerun of the season, a two-run shot in the top of the eighth. The sophomore is second on the team in homeruns this season.

Emory, 20-14 on the season, has five more games to play this season.

(April 16) Emory University dropped back-to-back road games to Millsaps College (MS).

After trailing 6-1 after four innings, Emory came from behind in Saturday's game to take a 7-6 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth. However, Millsaps came back, forcing the game into extra innings.

In the top of the 10th, Tyler Shearon gave the Eagles the lead with a RBI single. However, a run scoring wild pitch and a sacrifice fly for Millsaps gave them a 9-8 victory over the Eagles.

Emory lost Friday's game 10-2 after falling behind early. After trailing 2-0 after one inning, Ryan Lumsden's second inning single scored David Murchison to pull the Eagles within one.

The scored remained the same until the fifth inning when Alex Sotiriou walked, stole a base and later scored on a ground out to tie the game. Emory pitching could not hold the lead though, as Millsaps scored six runs in the bottom of the inning en route to the win.

Emory will finish their road trip with a doubleheader against Huntingdon College (AL) before heading back to Atlanta for the team's final three home games of the season.

(April 14) Ian Ganzer picked up Emory University's first complete-game victory of the season in a 6-1 win over the University of the South (Tenn.).

Ganzer allowed one run on five hits and one walk while striking out a season-high 10 batters over nine innings. The 10 strikeouts are the fifth most by an Eagle in a game, and the most since Will Carr struck out 10 on March 13, 2004. Ganzer leads the team with 40 strikeouts in 43.1 innings and is second among Emory starters with a 3.95 earned run average.

Ganzer retired 19 of the last 20 batters he faced, sitting down 14 in a row between the third and eighth innings. He did not allow an extra-base hit during the game.

The complete-game win is the first for the Eagles since Carr's on April 20, 2004, against La Grange Ga.). Ganzer's performance comes exactly two years after Reed Harvey threw a complete-game shutout against Piedmont (Ga.), the last time an Eagles' pitcher allowed one run or less in a complete game.

After falling behind 1-0 after the first inning, the Eagles bounced back in the top of the second. Josh Barrett led the inning off with a single and a stolen base, later scoring on a Tyler Shearon single. Later in the inning, Clayton LaForge picked up a one-out RBI, singling in Bo Schill from second. Emory later scored a run in the fifth and three in the ninth.

The Eagles were active on the base paths, stealing eight bases on the day. David Murchison tied an Emory season-best by stealing three bases. Justin Gordon had two steals of his own, while Barrett, Shearon and Joe Roth each stole one.

Roth, a freshman, improved his season's batting average to .322, going 2-for-4 on the day, including a double and a RBI walk.

Emory, in the middle of a five-game road trip, improves its record to 19-11 on the season.

(April 9) In two games that came down to the bottom half of the ninth inning, Emory University split a doubleheader with Piedmont College (GA), winning the first 8-7 and losing the second 5-4.

The Eagles won the opener in the bottom of the ninth inning when David Murchison singled in Josh Barrett, who singled and stole second base.

Keith Meizler earned his first win of the season, pitching the last two innings.

Taylor Gettinger continued his hot hitting as he went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. On the season, the junior leads his team with a .386 batting average.

In the second game, Emory traded leads with Piedmont, going into the ninth inning down by two runs. Murchison scored, pulling the Eagles within one run. However, with two outs, bases loaded and a full count Emory could not pull off its second last-inning comeback of the day.

Pitcher Jason Glushon started the game, pitching 6.1 innings and yielding two earned runs.

Tim Cournoyer went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Emory University (18-11) plays four road games before returning home on April 21.

(April 6) Emory University shut out its opponent for the second straight game, defeating Huntingdon College (Ala.) by a score of 14-0. In its last game, Emory shut out LaGrange (Ga.), 2-0.

This is the first back-to-back shutout in school history since March 5-6, 1999, when Jon Lee and Patrick Bush were the starting pitchers for Emory in 2-0 and 11-0 wins against York (Pa.).

This is the seventh time in Emory history that it has registered consecutive shutouts. The feat was accomplished twice in the 1995 and 1996 seasons. The first-ever time for the Eagles was April 1994 when brothers Jeff and Scott Kramer threw shutouts in the last two games of the season (Jeff winning 1-0 and Scott 2-0).

Today, five Emory pitchers combined for the shutout and yielded a season-low two hits. The previous low was three hits in a combined shutout Feb. 22 against University of the South (Tenn.).

Today's starter, Tom Mieczkowski, pitched the first five innings, allowing no runs and two hits to pick up his third win of the season. Anthony Vidal, Kris Herring, Rich Babb and Keith Meizler followed with a combined four innings of hitless relief.

Emory amassed 14 runs and 18 hits, both second highest of the season behind a 22-run, 19-hit performance against Case Western Reserve (Ohio) March 14. This is the fifth time this season that Emory scored at least 10 runs in a game. Fourteen different players had a hit for Emory.

Leading the way were Emory's top three hitters in the batting order. Justin Gordon, Josh Barrett and Taylor Gettinger, in that order, combined to go 7-for-11 with seven RBIs. The Eagles are now 8-0 this season when Gordon bats in the leadoff spot. Gettinger was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a team-high four RBIs.

Emory scored seven times in the third inning to pull away.

(April 3) Emory University's Jason Glushon and Ian Ganzer combined for the shutout in a 2-0 win against LaGrange College (Ga.).

The shutout was the third of the season for the Eagles and Glushon has been the starter in all three. Today, he pitched seven and two-third innings allowing seven hits. Ganzer picked up his first save with one and on-third innings of hitless relief.

Glushon, now 5-0 on the season with a 1.50 earned run average, pitched seven innings, allowing two hits in a shutout Feb. 22 against University of the South (Tenn.). He pitched seven shutout innings yielding four hits in a March 19 whitewash of Edgewood (Wis.).

Emory scored both of its runs in the first inning on a two-run double by Tim Cournoyer, scoring Justin Gordon and Taylor Gettinger. Cournoyer, in his first season as a starter, has 18 RBIs in 25 games, tripling his RBI output of last season.

(April 2) Emory University lost to LaGrange College (GA), 13-3. The Eagles played LaGrange tight for the first half of the game, but could not hold on in the second half.

Ryan Lumsden had two hits for Emory, including a double to the deepest park of the ball park. Josh Barrett had two infield singles and a stolen base.

Emory visits LaGrange tomorrow.

(March 29) Emory University's Ian Ganzer pitched six innings striking out five and allowing two runs, as the Eagles (15-8) defeated Southern Polytechnic State University (Ga.), ranked 23rd nationally in NAIA, 4-2.

Ganzer won his fourth game of the season to tie for the team lead. Kris Herring relieved Ganzer, striking out one in one inning. Closer Keith Meizler notched his fifth save of season pitching two scoreless innings.

Taylor Gettinger hit 2-for-3 scoring one run for the Eagles. Mike Levin, Josh Barrett, and Tim Cournoyer each drove in one run.

Emory records its second victory this season over a nationally ranked NAIA opponent. The first came against North Georgia College and State University, then ranked seventh at the time on March 1.

Emory's starting lineup today had played 258 career games combined, while the starting lineup on opening day had played 496. Griffin Baum (.381 avg.) and Travis Langley (.283) did not play because of injuries, while Bryan Langbord (.418 last season) and Sam Cunningham (.352 last season) are out for the season.

(March 28) Five Emory University players have been named to the all-conference team based on their performance during the annual University Athletic Association (UAA) tournament in Florida. Josh Barrett and Ian Ganzer were named to the first team, while Griffin Baum, Tim Cournoyer and Taylor Gettinger earned spots on the second team.

Emory has had at least five players named to the all-conference teams in four of the last five years. Except for Barrett, this is the first appearance on the all-conference team for all of the players.

This is Barrett's first appearance on the all-conference first team, after being named to the second team last season. Barrett led all conference players in the tournament in stolen bases (6) and runs scored (9).

In his first UAA tournament, Ganzer finished second in strikeouts among all pitchers, fanning nine batters in 10 innings. The sophomore held opponents to a .143 batting average and did not issue a walk en route to a 2.70 earned run average.

Baum started five games behind the plate for the Eagles, batting .471 with one home run and five RBIs. Against Case Western Reserve University (OH), Baum went 4-for-5 picking up two doubles, a home run and three RBI.

Cournoyer tied a UAA record with three home runs during the tournament, along with setting the conference single-game RBI record, with six in the opening game against Case Western.

Gettinger led all UAA players with a .556 batting average and a 1.056 slugging percentage. The infielder was also second amongst all players with a .600 on base percentage and two home runs.

The Eagles finished second in the tournament with a 3-3 record.

(March 26) Emory University defeated Oglethorpe University (GA) by a score of 7-4. Pitcher Tyler Shearon improved to 2-0 on the season after working seven innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out three batters. Shearon has 1.65 earned run average in four appearances this season.

Keith Meizler picked up his fourth save of the season with two scoreless innings of relief.

In spite of a slow Eagle start at the plate, Josh Barret provided some excitement in the third inning when he stole his 26th base of the season and 86th of his career. Barrett now holds the Emory record for career steals, surpassing Brad Wands (1995-98).

The Emory offense heated up in the middle of the game, taking the lead in the fifth inning when Joe Roth drove in Taylor Gettinger with a single up the middle. Ryan Lollar solidified the lead with a two-run homer in the sixth inning.

Griffin Baum did his best Barrett impression, swiping three bases in the game. Gettinger finished the day 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Roth went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI after his younger brother threw a ceremonial first pitch to him before the game.

Also in attendence were many Emory baseball alums, including Kyle Foster, James Hochluetner, Adam Schorr, Aaron Rosdal, Rob Seager, Hank Hornsby and Brye Adler.

Emory University (14-8) is scheduled to play three home games in the next week.

(March 25) Emory University defeated Heidelberg College (Ohio) by a score of 5-1, improving its record to 13-8. The win avenges the Eagles' loss two days earlier to Heidelberg, ranked 23rd in the nation.

Sophomore Jason Glushon pitched seven innings, allowing only five hits and one earned run while striking out four. The win gives Glushon his fourth win of the season and lowers his earned run average to a team-leading 1.78.

Emory jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the second inning. Juniors Travis Langley and David Murchison reached base after being hit by pitches. Freshman Joe Roth later singled in Langley for the first run. Roth stole second and went to third on a throwing error by the catcher, which allowed Murchison to score. Roth scored on a wild pitch, giving Emory the three-run lead.

The Eagles then tacked on one in the fourth and one in the fifth and never looked back.

Langley was perfect for the day, going 1-for-1 with three runs scored. Roth went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Eagles, ranked 14th in the nation, take on Oglethorpe University (Ga.) tomorrow at 1 pm.

(March 23) In a matchup of national top-25 teams, Heidelberg College (Ohio) beat Emory University, 12-2. The Eagles' defense committed five errors leading to five unearned runs by the visitors.

Emory's runs came in the first inning on a two-out, two-run double by Tim Cournoyer. Pitcher Will Carr took the loss, his second in a row after winning 26 consecutive decisions, tying the NCAA all-division record.

(March 19) Jason Glushon improved to 3-0 on the season, as Emory University (12-7) defeated Edgewood College (WI) by a score of 4-0. Glushon took a perfect game into the fifth inning. He went a total of seven innings without yielding a run, while fanning four. The sophomore leads the team with a 1.89 ERA.

The Eagles took a quick one run lead in the first inning. Josh Barrett drew a lead-off walk. The center fielder then stole his 85th career base, tying an Emory University record. He advanced to third on a Griffin Baum fly ball and then scored on a passed ball. Barret is 23 of 25 on the base paths this season and 85 of 99 in his career.

Taylor Gettinger had two hits down the third base line and Joe Roth had a two-RBI single up the middle, leading the Eagle offense.

Keith Meizler pitched two scoreless innings of relief, securing the Emory win.

(March 15) Emory University finished in second place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) tournament with a 3-3 record.

First basemen Tim Cournoyer tied the UAA tournament record with three home runs over the six games. The sophomore's record-tying home run tied the game for Emory in the 6th inning against the University of Rochester (N.Y.) in an Eagles' win.

Cournoyer opened up the tournament by setting the conference record for most RBI in a UAA tournament game, knocking in six runs against Case Western Reserve University (OH) in the Eagles' first game. His nine RBI during the tournament was second amongst all conference players.

The Eagles continued to break tournament records, picking up a team total five home runs and 20 RBI in a 22-1 win over Case Western. The 22 runs scored by the Eagles are the second most in school history, and the most since they scored 26 against the University of the South (Tenn.) on February 7, 1998.

Infielder Taylor Gettinger led all players in batting average (.556) and slugging percentage (1.056) and finished second in on-base percentage (.600) and home runs (2). Josh Barrett led the entire tournament in runs scored and stolen bases, scoring nine and stealing six. The outfielder finished the tournament one stolen base shy of tying the school career record for stolen bases.

After leaving the opening game of the tournament with a no decision, Eagles' starting pitcher Will Carr saw his NCAA all-division record tying 26-game winning streak come to an end with a loss to Brandeis University (MA) in the last game of the tournament.

This is the sixth consecutive year that the Eagles have finished in second place or better at the UAA tournament. The team has never finished below third place.

(March 6) Emory University split a wild weekend at Maryville College (Tenn.), winning 11-10 on Saturday and losing 11-10 in extra innings Sunday.

The Eagles combined for 21 runs in two games (10.5 runs per game) compared to 56 in the previous 10 games this season (5.6 runs per). Emory amassed 28 hits for the weekend, exactly 14 apiece in each game.

Shortstop Taylor Gettinger lined a two-run single in the seventh inning of Saturday's game to put Emory in the lead for good. Gettinger finished the day with three hits in five at bats, two runs scored and three RBIs.

Saturday, catcher Griffin Baum was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and one RBI. It was the second three-hit game of his career, the first coming March 21, 2004, against Edgewood (Wis.).

Josh Barrett was 2-for-5, including a home run, with two runs scored and a stolen base. Travis Langley and Clayton LaForge each had a pair of hits.

Pitchers Ian Ganzer and Keith Meizler combined for three innings of hitless relief to seal the victory. Ganzer improved his record to 2-1 on the season while Meizler picked up his third save of the season. Meizler has 13 career saves, adding on to his school record. The former saves record holder is Roy Smetana who had 11 saves for the Eagles from 1994-97.

On Sunday, Maryville rallied with four runs in the home half of the ninth inning to force extra innings and pushed across the winning run in the 10th inning.

Langley and Barrett again had two hits apiece. Barrett stole another base increasing his career total to 78 as he continues to approach the school record of 85, held by Brad Wands (1995-98).

First baseman Tim Cournoyer was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. This is the second three-hit game of his career. The other was March 29, 2004, against Southern Polytechnic (Ga.).

Third baseman Brandon Custer was 3-for-4. He also had three hits earlier this week against North Georgia. In four games this week, Custer batted .571 (8-for-14).

(March 2) Emory University (7-3) scored two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat Adrian College (Mich.) 4-3. Emory pitcher Will Carr, denied in his bid for an NCAA all-division record 27th consecutive victory, pitched nine innings, allowing eight hits, two runs, striking out two.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, senior co-captain Josh Barrett singled up the middle driving in the Brandon Custer for the tying run. Barrett proceeded to steal second and third base and was then balked home for the winning run. Barrett had one RBI and scored twice. The centerfielder stole three bases bringing his career total to 76, which is nine behind the career record held by Brad Wands (1995-98).

Pitcher Ian Ganzer received his first career win as an Eagle, pitching two-thirds of an inning in the top of the 10th, striking out one.

In the bottom of the ninth, Emory loaded the bases with one out and a chance to give Carr the consecutive wins record, but hit into a double play.

(March 1) Brandon Custer went 3-for-4 driving in two runs and scoring twice as No. 14 Emory University (6-3) defeated North Georgia College and State University, ranked 24th in Division II, 8-4.

Tom Mieczkowski earned his second win of the season, pitching four innings and giving up one run. Mieczkowski struck out three batters.

Senior co-captain Josh Barrett went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and a run scored. Barrett recorded his 11th stolen base of the season and the 73rd of his career, second all-time in Emory school history.

Shortstop Taylor Gettinger went 1-for-4 while driving in three runs.

Anthony Vidal started the game for the Eagles and pitched through five innings. He struck out seven while giving up three runs.

Ryan Lollar and Griffin Baum each drove in a run for Emory. Lollar, starting at designated hitter, recorded his second steal of the season.

(Feb. 27) Emory University (5-3) finished fourth in the Rawlings Tournament after losing to Virginia Wesleyan College, ranked 28th in the nation, by a score of 7-6.

After falling behind in the sixth inning, the Eagles moved ahead by a run in the top of the eighth when Josh Barrett drove in Griffin Baum with a single to center field. However, the Eagles could not hold on in the bottom of the ninth, dropping their third game of the Rawlings Tournament.

York College (PA) won the Rawlings Tournament after defeating Lynchburg College (VA) in the championship game.

Emory University, ranked 14th in the nation, faces North Georgia College on Tuesday at Emory's Chappell Park.

(Feb. 26) Emory University (5-2) dropped two games in the Rawlings Tournament.

The Eagles fell to Lynchburg College (VA) 18-1 in the first game. David Murchison and Frank Pfister each had two hits.

The Eagles dropped the second game to York College (PA) 10-5. Travis Langley hit his second home run of the season. Alex Sotiriou had two doubles, a walk, a run and an RBI.

The Eagles play Virginia Wesleyan in the consolation game of the Rawlings Tournament Sunday at 10 am.

(Feb. 25) Pitcher Will Carr broke a national record with his 26th consecutive win as Emory University, ranked 14th in the nation, won its first game of the Rawlings Tournament, defeating Virginia Wesleyan, ranked 28th in the nation, by a score of 5-3. The Eagles are now 5-0 to begin the season.

Carr, a senior, earned his third win of the season, pitching eight and one-third innings, giving up three runs, two of them earned, while striking out four. He improved his career record to 26-0.

In the process, Carr broke the NCAA Division III record of 25 consecutive wins, set by Dennys Gomez of William Penn (Iowa) from March 12, 1993 to May 10, 1994.Carr picked up his first career win on Feb. 18, 2003, with three and one-third innings of scoreless relief.

If Carr wins his next decision, he breaks the NCAA all-division record of 26 consecutive wins shared by two NCAA Division I pitchers, Kyle Sleeth of Wake Forest (2001-03) and Scott Nielson of Brigham Young (1978, 82-83).

Junior Keith Meizler pitched two-thirds of an inning in the top of the ninth to pick up his second save of the season.

Freshman second baseman Frank Pfister was perfect on the day, going 2-for-2 with a walk while driving in the first three Emory runs. Pfister leads the team with a .600 batting average. He has six hits in his first ten collegiate at-bats to go along with four RBIs. Junior shortstop Taylor Gettinger also got two hits in the game and scored two runs.

Emory University continues play in the Rawlings Tournament tomorrow morning at home against York College (Pa.)

(Feb. 22) Jason Glushon pitched seven shutout innings, striking out four and allowing two hits, to help Emory University (4-0) defeat the University of the South (Tenn.) 6-0.

Glushon earned his first win of the season in his second career start. Glushon has one save on the season.

Sophomore catcher Griffin Baum hit his first career home run in the first inning. Baum went 2-for-4 with one RBI and scored two runs.

Center fielder Josh Barrett went 3-for-4 on the day. Barrett had two doubles driving in one RBI. The senior co-captain stole two bases to move his career total to 72, 13 steals behind the all time record at Emory.

Junior pitchers Ryan Lumsden and Keith Meizler each pitched one shutout inning to close out the game.

(Feb. 20) Emory University's (3-0) Will Carr improved to 2-0 on the season and 25-0 for his career with an 8-2 victory over Oglethorpe University (GA). The senior pitched five innings, striking out three batters and yielding no walks.

Ryan Lumsden, Anthony Vidal, Rich Babb and Julian Smith each pitched an inning of scoreless relief. Smith pitched a perfect ninth, which included a strikeout, in his Emory debut.

Sam Cunningham had a triple in the second inning that broke the game open. Clayton LaForge had a hit, a run and two RBI in his first game as an Eagle. David Murchison went 2-2 with a walk.

In his first game for Emory, Joe Roth drew three walks and scored a run.

Emory University, ranked 14th in the nation, takes on the University of the South at home on Tuesday.

(Feb. 19) Emory University (2-0), ranked 14th in the nation, defeated Oglethorpe University (GA) by a score of 6-5. Ian Ganzer recorded his first vistory as an Eagle, after pitching three scoreless innings of relief.

Keith Meizler earned his first save of the season, hurling a perfect ninth inning.

Josh Barrett had two hits and three stolen bases. In two games, the senior already has five stolen bases.

Travis Langley hit a home run in the sixth inning, which proved to be the game-winner.

(Feb. 16) Emory University is ranked 14th in the NCAA Division III poll according to the American Baseball Coaches Association. This is the fourth time in the past five seasons that the Eagles have been ranked among the top 15 nationally in the pre-season poll.

Emory finished last season ranked ninth in the nation with a school-best 42 wins. The Eagles return 22 letter winners, including four all-region players and All-America pitcher Will Carr.

Emory's schedule includes four home games against teams ranked in the top 30 nationally. In a rematch from last season's NCAA regionals, the Eagles take on 21st ranked Methodist College (NC) on April 23rd and 24th. Emory faces off against the 23rd ranked team in the nation, Heidelberg College (OH), on March 22nd and 25th.

(Feb. 15) All-American Will Carr pitched seven scoreless innings on opening day as Emory University, ranked 14th nationally in NCAA Division III by the American Baseball Coaches Association, defeated Washington and Lee University (Va.) 7-3.

Carr struck out one, while giving up three hits. Carr improves to 24-0 over his three-year career at Emory.

Designated hitter Travis Langley went 2-for-3 from the plate, including a double. He drove in three runs.

Senior co-captain Josh Barrett went 2-for-4 in the game, and stole two bases. Barrett is fifth in Emory history for the most career steals with 64. (Brad Wands (1995-98) holds the record with 85 career steals.)

Freshman Frank Pfister went 2-for-2 from the plate in his Emory debut. Pfister had a double down the right field line in his first at bat as an Eagle.

Sophomore pitcher Jason Glushon received his first career save, pitching one and third scoreless and hitless innings.

Emory has won its opening day game for eight of the past nine seasons.
