Senior (2007):

Custer compiled his most successful season as an Eagle in 2007, finishing 2007 with a .360 batting average, the second-best on the team.  The senior started 52 of 53 games for the Eagles during the year, and played every inning of the Eagles' 11-game run through the NCAA Tournament.  He finished the year with 35 runs scored, 33 runs batted in, and two home runs.  The shortstop was named to the All-NCAA Division III Championship Tournament team after leading the Eagles with a .474 average over six games.  Custer was named to the All-University Athletic Association first team after batting a team-leading .476 with three doubles during the six-game stretch.  Custer hit his first-career home run on February 18th against Methodist University (N.C.), the game's winning run.  He was hit by an Emory single-season record 18 pitches, and finished his career having been hit by 26 pitches, the second-most in school history.  Custer was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team for his success both on the field and in the classroom.

Junior (2006):

Custer competed in 26 games for the Eagles, starting 13.  He finished the season with a batting average of .277 with 13 hits and 14 RBI.  He also scored nine runs and had two doubles on the year.  Against Methodist College (N.C.) on April 23 he finished 2-4 and recorded five RBI.

Sophomore (2005):

Sophomore infielder batted .296 on the season, sixth best on the team. Had five multi-hit games. On March 1 against North Georgia College, went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.

Freshman (2004):

Custer played in 18 games, six of them starts, and batted .345 (10-for-29) with six RBI.

Prior to Emory:

Played on the Blue Valley West High School baseball team, serving as the captain of the team during his senior season... Hit .400 during his senior season... Was named to the all-Eastern Kansas League and all-Sun County teams as a third baseman... Member of the league championship team in 2002 and 2003, and the regional championship team in 2003... Coached by Bill McDonald... Also participated in football and basketball while in high school.
