Freshman (2009):
Melendez appeared in 19 games for the Eagles during his freshman season, making five starts at second base. He recorded four hits in his 25 at-bats, scoring three runs and driving in three as well. Melendez helped the Eagles to a 15-5 win over Washington University (Mo.) on March 11th, walking three times, stealing a base, and scoring two runs. He added a two RBI performance on April 5th against Piedmont College, guiding the Eagles to a 13-5 win.
