Emory University centerfielder Gabe Shivers hit .526 while leading the squad in runs batted in during five games last week. Shivers started all five games for Emory, going 10-for-19 with three doubles, four runs scored and seven RBIs, in addition to two stolen bases. During Emory’s 10-7 upset victory over 26th-ranked Methodist University, the junior went four-for-four with three RBIs, a double and a stolen base. He also went two-for-three with two RBIs and a double during Emory’s 13-6 win over Guilford College. Shivers is batting .398 with 28 runs scored and 15 RBIs this season, in addition to a team-high eight stolen bases and a perfect fielding percentage, helping Emory to a 15-17 overall record in 2010.
