Prior to the start of the Eagles' 9-8
walk-off upset win over sixth-ranked Birmingham Southern College,
Emory's seven graduating senior players were honored for their
contributions to the team during their careers.
Brian Cournoyer - Pitcher - Miami, FL (Coral Reef)
Brian has been one of Emory’s most reliable arms out
of the bullpen during his four seasons on the team, making 47 of
his 51 career appearances in relief. This season, he leads
all Emory pitchers with a 2.21 ERA, the 15th-lowest
single season total in school history, and ranks 37th
among all qualifying Division III pitchers in ERA. For his
career, Cournoyer holds a 5-5 record with a 4.20 ERA, one save, and
a .282 batting average against over 90 innings pitched.
Adam Genn - Pitcher - Baltimore, MD (Friends School)
Adam has been an incredibly versatile pitcher for Emory
during his career, assuming every role from starter to
closer. He ranks fifth in school history with nine career
saves, including six during the 2008 season, the fourth-best single
season total in school history. Adam has a career 6-5 record,
and the 18 games he has finished over his career are the sixth-most
in school history. This season, Adam has started five games
for the Eagles, appearing in nine total, and has a record of 3-2.
Will Gumm - Pitcher - Colleyville, TX (Pendleton)
Will has been a force out of the bullpen for Emory during
his career, making 59 appearances, all in relief, the sixth-most in
school history. He has a career ERA of 3.26, which includes
ERAs below 3.00 in three of his four seasons. Will has a 3-3
record over his career with an ERA of 3.26, including four saves
and a batting average against of .244. This season, he has
earned two saves, while recording an ERA of 2.35, and has held
opponents to a batting average of just .235.
Zeb Heidt - Pitcher - Chatsworth, GA (Murray County)
With his unique sidearm motion, Zeb was an immediate
success after transferring to Emory, earning seven saves his junior
year, the third-best single season total in school history.
He currently ranks sixth in school history with eight career saves,
11th with a 2.70 ERA, and 12th with 7.31
strikeouts per nine innings. This year, Zeb has made a
team-high 19 appearances, the 10th-most in school
history, recording one save. He was named to the all-South
Region and all-University Athletic Associations second teams for
his efforts during the 2009 season.
Matthew Katten - Pitcher - Plainview, NY (Plainview
JFK)
Matthew has been the ace of the Emory pitching staff over
the past two seasons, winning six games each year. This
season, he was one of the most effective pitchers at the University
Athletic Association Tournament, earning a spot on the
all-tournament team for the first time in his career. Matthew
has a career record of 13-5 with a 4.62 earned run average, and
currently ranks 14th in school history in career wins,
and 10th in fewest walks allowed per game. This
year, his six wins rank him 28th among all Division III
pitchers.
Dan Molnar - Outfielder - Long Grove, IL (Adlai E.
Stevenson)
One of the most patient hitters in the program’s
history, Dan has accumulated nearly two and a half miles worth of
free passes, walking a school record 141 times during his
career. Last season, he finished second in the nation with a
school-record 49 walks, and currently ranks third among all
Division III players with 32 walks this season. Besides
walks, Dan has also been an impressive hitter, amassing a .337
batting average, 13 home runs and 99 RBIs. Dan is among the
Emory career leaders in a number of categories, ranking fourth in
on base percentage, sixth in runs scored and home runs, ninth in
stolen bases, and 14th in hits. He has been named
to two all-UAA teams and two all-UAA tournament teams during his
career, and was named an honorable mention to the Jewish Sports
Review All-American in 2009.
Marc Terranova - Infielder/Pitcher - West Chester, PA
(Unionville)
Marc has been a valuable contributor as both a hitter and
pitcher during his two year career with Emory. He is a career
.284 hitter with four home runs and 32 RBIs, including a .357
batting average with a grand slam home run and seven RBIs this
season. Before suffering a season-ending injury this year,
Marc was on pace to be one of Emory’s top starting pitchers,
recording a 1-1 record with 20 strikeouts in 21 and two thirds
innings.
