The Emory University baseball team will open up its final week
of the 2010 season on Wednesday, as the Eagles will host the
Chargers of Atlanta Christian College at 3:00 PM at Chappell
Park.
The Eagles need to win each of their final three games of the
season to avoid finishing below .500 for the first time since the
team’s inaugural season in 1991, when the squad recorded a
10-26 record. Emory currently stands at 17-19 on the season,
following the team’s weekend split at Huntingdon
College. Emory is 7-9 at home this season.
Atlanta Christian is a member of the National Christian College
Athletic Association (NCCAA), and is currently the NCCAA Division
II’s the top-ranked team. The Chargers, coming off a
three-game sweep at Toccoa Falls College last weekend, are 24-21
overall this season, including a 9-13 record on the road.
The two teams met for the first time last season, with Emory coming
away with a 3-2 win over Atlanta Christian at Chappell Park.
In the game, Kevin O’Connor went
one-for-three with an RBI double, while Andrew
Cohn and Jay Page each added a hit and a
run. On the mound, Zeb Heidt pitched the
final inning and two thirds of the game to earn a save.
