Eagles Gear Up for Three-Game Series against Piedmont

The Emory University baseball team will take on Piedmont College in a three-game series this weekend, playing in Demorest, GA on Thursday and Saturday, and at home on Friday.

Thursday’s game is slated for a 7:00 PM start at Piedmont’s Loudermilk Baseball Complex, while Friday’s first pitch will be at 3:00 PM at Chappell Park.  The annual series will conclude on Saturday at 1:00 PM, back at Piedmont.

Emory, fresh off a 15-7 win against LaGrange College on Tuesday, stands at 13-11 overall this season after winning two-straight games.  The Eagles are 7-7 at home this season and 2-2 in true road contests.  Emory has won two-straight road games.

Piedmont currently holds a 12-12 record this season, following a doubleheader sweep against Huntingdon College on Saturday.  The Lions are 7-9 at home this season and 5-3 on the road.

Emory is 25-12 all time against Piedmont, including wins in two of three games last season.  During the three games in 2009, Andrew Cohn hit .500 (seven-for-14) with five runs score, and Jeremy Bolian hit .44 4 (four-for-nine) with two doubles and three RBIs.  Matthew Katten and Chris Monaco each made a start and earned a victory against the Lions in 2009.

Emory’s Gabe Shivers set a program single-game record with six hits against LaGrange College on Tuesday… Shivers also drove in four runs and scored three… Emory’s 26 hits against LaGrange were the second-most in school history, and the most this season by the Eagles… Emory has now had at least 20 hits in two of its last four games… Eight Eagles had at least two hits against LaGrange, and five players drove in at least two runs… Emory is now 8-0 when scoring 10 or more runs this season… Junior Patrick Riebsame extended his hitting streak to 12 games on Tuesday, while junior Ryan Jones extended his streak to 11 contests… Sophomore Jonathan Reilly has picked up at least three hits in each of his last four games, hitting .700 (14-20) with 11 RBIs and four doubles during the stretch… Reilly has raised his batting average .106 points over his last nine games to a team-leading .404
