Emory University sophomore Mike Bitanga allowed just one run over five and a third innings last week, spanning two relief outings. Bitanga pitched a scoreless eighth inning during an 11-7 loss to NCAA Division II North Georgia College and State University, allowing a hit and a walk and striking out a batter. Four days later, during a 5-4 10-inning win over Methodist University, the all-UAA tournament selection pitched a season-high four and a third innings in relief, allowing one run on four hits and a walk with a strikeout, en route to earning the victory in the game. The right-handed pitcher has a 2.25 earned run average, the lowest on the team this season, with a 3-3 record and eight saves. Bitanga’s performance has helped the Eagles to a 26-16 record with one game left in the season.
