Freshman (2012):

Dillman turned in one of the top campaigns by a freshman pitcher in Emory history in 2012, earning D3Baseball.com South Region and University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year honors, in addition to earning a place on the D3Baseball.com All-South Region first team.  Dillman set Emory freshman records for wins and strikeouts during the year, and finished the campaign ranked 25th in Division III in strikeouts per game, 37th in total strikeouts, 43rd in victories and 184th with in earned run average.  He appeared in 11 games during the season, making 10 starts and going a team-best 8-1 with a 2.84 ERA and a .235 opponents batting average, both lows among Emory starters.  In his 66.2 innings of work, he allowed 57 hits and 26 runs (21 earned), striking out 76 batters and walking 29.  Dillman earned a win in his first appearance with an inning and a third against Berry College on February 10th, and pitched six innings without allowing an earned run to Washington and Lee University in his first start on February 21st.  On March 11th, in the opening game of the UAA Tournament, Dillman delivered the first nine-inning shutout by an Eagle since 2003 and matched a conference-tournament record with 13 strikeouts during a 6-0 win over Brandeis University.  He went on to earn a spot on the all-UAA Tournament team, going 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 20 strikeouts over 16 innings during conference play.  On April 19th against Oglethorpe University, Dillman pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks and striking out nine batters.  He added a 10-strikeout performance over six innings during a 10-5 win over LaGrange College on April 25th.  Right-handed batters hit just .208 against Dillman (38-for-183), and he held opponents to a .211 batting average (15-for-71) with two outs.  He also limited opponents to just three steals on 11 attempts during the campaign, good for a .273 stolen base percentage, the lowest ever by an Eagle pitcher.  After one season on the squad, Dillman ranks first in the program's history for career strikeouts per game (10.26), 10th in opponents batting average and 14th in ERA.
