Finer appeared in six games out of the bullpen for Emory during his freshman season. The southpaw pitched a scoreless inning during his collegiate debut on February 21st, a 5-2 win over Washington and Lee University, and was perfect over two-thirds of an inning against Methodist University on April 21st. Opponents his just .235 (four-for-17) against Finer with runners on base during the season.

Played for the Kent Denver School baseball team for four seasons, serving as the team's captain during his junior and senior seasons... Was an all-state pitcher his senior year... First team all-conference honoree as a utility player and a pitcher his junior and senior years... Struck out 50 batters in 41 innings pitched with a 3.25 ERA and two shutouts during his 2011 campaign... Coached by Bill Boatman... Also a four-year letterwinner in basketball and a two-time all-conference player... Earned all-state honors for basketball during his senior year.
