Emory Baseball Takes Rubber Game of Series at Hendrix

The Emory University Baseball team claimed a series win over Hendrix College on Sunday in Conway, Arkansas, winning the rubber match of the weekend 8-1 behind another strong start on the mound from sophomore Dylan Finer.

Finer earned his second victory in as many starts to improve to 2-0 on the year.  He allowed just one unearned run in the first of his five innings of work, scattering six hits and striking out four batters, and lowering his season ERA to 2.84.  Junior Robert Gross and sophomore Graham Bloomsmith each pitched two scoreless innings to close out the win.

Junior Daniel Iturrey paced the Eagles at the plate with a two-for-four day, including a double, driving in three runs and scoring two.

Emory jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the game, when junior Jared Kahn singled, extending his hitting streak to 14 games.  He later stole second, and scored on an RBI single from Jared Welch.

After Hendrix tied the game in the bottom of the inning, Emory took the lead for good with a three-run third inning.  The Eagles added on two runs in each of the seventh and ninth innings to cement the lead.

Emory took two of the three games from Hendrix during the weekend, improving to 15-13 overall for the season, while the Warriors dropped to 15-17.  The Eagles outscored their opponent 20-7 over the three games.

Emory will be back in action on Tuesday, April 9th, traveling to Berry College for a 6:00 PM matchup.
