D3BASEBALL.COM ALL-SOUTH REGION TEAMS
Emory University senior Jeff Ronpirin and sophomore Billy Dimlow were recognized by D3Baseball.com Tuesday morning as the pair was selected to the organization's All-South Region teams. Dimlow was named the region's Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the First Team while Ronpirin was tabbed to the Third Team.
Dimlow becomes the first Emory pitcher to be named the D3Baseball.com South Region Pitcher of the Year and is just the third in program history to earn regional Pitcher of the Year honors by any organization, joining Will Carr (NCBWA, 2004) and Jason Glushon (ABCA & NCBWA, 2007). Dimlow went 6-2 in 11 starts as a sophomore, compiling a 1.09 earned-run average and 83 strikeouts in 74 innings. His ERA ranks fourth among all Division III qualifiers and is the lowest single-season mark in Emory history for pitchers with at least 40 innings pitched. In seven starts, Dimlow struck out at least seven batters including double-digit totals in four outings. He did not allow an earned run until his fourth start of the season and held opponents scoreless in four outings which includes his first career shutout against Brandeis University on April 8th.
Ronpirin garners his first D3Baseball.com All-South Region selection of his career, earning Third Team honors at second base. Ronpirin played in a team-high 41 games while making 39 starts between second base and designated hitter. He finished the year as the team's leader in doubles (10), triples (4), RBI (42), multi-RBI games (12) and was second on the club in hits (44), total bases (62) and stolen bases (10).
The Eagles qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament for the fourth consecutive season in 2017, finished the season with a 27-14 overall record.
