Emory University baseball junior Robby Wacker has been named the University Athletic Association Co-Hitter of the Week in the league's first edition of Athlete of the Week awards for the 2021 spring season announced Tuesday afternoon.
Wacker made an immediate impact for the Eagles during the season opening series at Huntingdon, helping Emory go 1-1 against the Hawks. Wacker turned in a 3-for-5 performance with 4 RBI while falling a triple short of the cycle, leading the Eagles to a 13-12 win in the opener. He delivered a two-run home run in the fourth to put Emory in front 4-3 before later cashing in with a two-run double in the seventh, breaking open a 6-6 ballgame and putting Emory in front for good. The University of Richmond transfer added a double, walk and run scored in the night cap, finishing the double dip 4-for-9 with three extra base hits and four RBI.
Emory (1-1) is scheduled for a three-game series with LaGrange College this weekend, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 20th.
