Emory Baseball Drops Series Finale at LaGrange

The Emory University baseball team dropped the series finale to LaGrange College Sunday afternoon, falling by a score of 9-4 at Cleaveland Field in Lagrange, GA.

The Panthers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and held the edge for the final eight frames as they improved to 7-4 on the season while the Eagles dropped to 2-3 overall.

James Robertson suffered the loss as he made his season debut, tossing 3.1 innings and allowing six runs on five hits and five walks. He struck out three in the outing.

Emory was held without a run until the team began a rally in the eighth inning, scoring all four of their runs to cut the deficit to 6-4. In the inning, four different players had an RBI as the visitors tried to scrap back into the contest. Ryan Adelman and Jack Rubenstein each had run-scoring base hits before Caleb Shulman picked up a sac fly for the team's third run. Michael Edelman finished the big inning with a single to score Rubenstein.

Adelman and Edelman each had two hits to lead the Emory offense, as did Drew Bartholow who went 2-for-2 with a double after not starting the game.

Emory looks to snap their current two-game skid when the team returns to the diamond Tuesday night at Piedmont College. First pitch from Demorest, GA is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
