After opening its spring season at The Club of Savannah Harbor Classic, the No. 1-ranked Emory golf team turns its attention to this weekend's (Mar. 9-10) University Athletic Association Championships. Hosting the event will be the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.
For the fourth straight year, the Championships will feature a match-play format with top-seeded Emory taking on No. 4 seed Rochester on the opening day, while second-seeded Carnegie Mellon squares off with No. 3 seed New York University. The winners advance to Sunday's title match with the losing teams competing for third and fourth place.
Emory enters this year's action as the three-time defending champ, registering a 3.5-1.5 decision over Carnegie Mellon in the 2018 Championships. The graduated Keenan Hickton was named the Outstanding Player of the Championships while Matt Organisak garnered a spot on the Championships All-Tournament Team.
Emory ended the Savannah Harbor Classic tied for fourth place out of 18 teams, posting a 36-hole score of 598 (305-293). Sam Galloway (75-73) and Eric Yiu (77-71) paced the Emory effort with scores of four-over par 148 that tied for 13th place in the 90-player field.
