Emory Men's Golf To Compete At Savannah Invitational

Emory Men's Golf To Compete At Savannah Invitational

The No. 2-ranked Emory University golf team will compete in its first tournament of the spring on Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 9-10) when it takes part in The Savannah Invitational.  The 54-hole event will be played at the 6,918-yard, par-72 Club at Savannah Harbor Golf Course.  Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday.  In a unique twist, the competing squads will be playing in fivesomes with their own teams for all three rounds. Serving as the host will be Berry College.

Emory will be one of 18 teams taking part at the Invitational, with this year's field comprised of 10 of the top 25-ranked D-III programs in the most recent Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll including #3 Huntingdon, # 4 Hampden-Sydney, #8 Carnegie Mellon and # 10 Wittenberg.

During the fall portion of the season, sophomore Max Schwarz logged all 11 rounds of play over four varsity competitions, posting an average of 71.7 strokes per outing which included a team-best tying six rounds of par or better. Senior Matt Organisak was close behind at 71.9 strokes per round, shooting or bettering par on six occasions.

Competing for Emory in its spring opener will be Organisak, Schwarz, sophomore Logan Ryan, junior Eric Yiu, and senior Sam Galloway.

Following the Harbor Classic, the Eagles will look to defend their UAA Championship, Mar. 14-15, at the Hammock Dunes Resort in Florida.
