Emory Men's Golf Lands Two On All-Region Team

Two members of the Emory men's golf team have been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for their fine play this past spring with Max Schwarz (Paradise Valley, AZ) and Davis Hingtgen (Orlando, FL) representing the Eagles on the Division III PING All-South Region Team.

Schwarz saw action in all five tournaments and averaged a team-leading 72.6 strokes over 14 rounds.  He topped the squad with six rounds of par or better and registered a pair of top-five finishes.  Schwarz ranked as the Eagles' top scorer on two occasions including a medalist-tying performance at the Hampden-Sydney Tiger Invitational where his 36-hole score of seven-under par 137 (69-68) tied the school record for a two-round tournament. He followed that effort by pacing the Emory contingent and finishing tied for second in a 133-player field at the Jekyll Island Invitational, carding a 54-hole mark of 212 (70-70-72) that tied the program's 11th-best showing for a three-round event while tying the school's second-best mark at the Invitational.

Hingtgen posted an average of 74.4 strokes over 14 rounds, placing second on the team with four rounds of par or better. He was Emory's No. 1 finisher and ninth overall out of 72 competitors at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate with a 36-hole score of one-under par 143 (72-71). He turned in a solid effort at the NCAA D-III Championships, compiling a 72-hole total of 297 (72-74-77-74) that topped the team and tied for 23rd on the leader board out of the 191 players who started out in the field.

A total of 97 players were chosen to six all-region teams. The South Region Team had the most honorees with 21 drawing recognition.
