Emory Men's Golf Places Four On All-Scholar Team

Four members of the Emory University men's golf program were recognized by the Collegiate Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) with berths on the 2020-21 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-Scholar Team.

The four honorees were Grant Drogosch (Windermere, FL), Davis Hingtgen (Orlando, FL), Logan Ryan (Fort Wayne, IN) and Max Schwarz (Paradise Valley, AZ).

Drogosch competed in all five of the team's tournaments in 2021 and averaged 76.0 strokes over 14 rounds. His season-best score of two-under par 69 during the third round of the NCAA D-III Championships (May 13) was the field's best score of the day and tied the school's second-best individual performance at nationals.

A PING Honorable Mention All-American, Hingtgen averaged 74.4 strokes over 14 rounds and ranked second on the squad with four rounds of par or better.  He paced the Eagles and placed 23rd on the leader board out of the 191 players who started out at the NCAA D-III Championships (May 11-14), posting a 72-hole score of 297 (72-74-77-74).

Ryan finished second on the team in scoring average at 74.2 strokes per round en route to capturing All-University Athletic Association honors. He was the top Emory performer and ranked second overall in the 60-player field at the Golfweek DIII Spring Invitational (Apr. 2-4) with a 54-hole performance of 217 (74-75-68), with his final round leading all players and featuring six birdies.

Schwarz enjoyed a banner season topping the team's score sheet with an average of 72.6 strokes.  He was chosen as a PING First Team All-American, the first Eagle to claim that distinction since 2012 (Ryan Dagerman).  Schwarz logged a squad-best six rounds of par or better and recorded a pair of top-five finishes, one of which came at the Hampden-Sydney Tiger Invitational (Mar. 13-14) when he tied for medalist honors with his 36-hole score of seven-under par 137 tied the school record for a two-round tournament.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Division III Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 40-percent of his team's competitive rounds and have a stroke-average under 79.0.  They must maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.20, possess high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
