The Emory men's golf team had a phenomenal day on the course Monday, finishing in first place after two rounds into the Tartan Invitational. The 54-hole tournament (36 holes on Monday, 18 on Tuesday) is being played at the 7,100-yard, par-72 course at the Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, PA.

The No. 3 ranked Eagles led the field of 13 teams through two rounds with a score of 596 (299-297). Emory posted a score of 299 and trailed No. 1 ranked Methodist by seven strokes after the first round but a rocky second round of golf from Methodist saw the Eagles with an eight-stroke lead at the end of day one. No. 4 Carnegie Mellon sits in third with a score of 608 (301-307) while No. 20 Christopher Newport sits in fourth place, tallying 614 (306-308) through one day of play.

Senior Max Schwarz propelled the Eagles with a stellar day on the course that saw him post a score of 144 (71-73) leading the team both rounds of play. Schwarz sits in second place in the field of 66 with hopes of moving into first with one round of golf left to play. Senior Logan Ryan (77-74) and sophomore Michael Rosenbloom (73-78) are knotted in eighth place each posting a score of 151. Senior Davis Hingtgen sits tied for tenth scoring 152 (78-74) while freshman Josh Qian rounded out the scores for the Eagles, posting a 154 (78-76) that saw him tied for 18th.

Alex Price of Christopher Newport is atop the leaderboard at two-under par with 142 (70-72).

The Eagles are back in action for the third and final round tomorrow at 8:00 AM.
