Emory men's golfer Michael Burry competed in the 2023 Patriot All-America Invitational this past weekend. The three-round event was played at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona.

The event is unique, as each competitor plays in honor of a fallen or wounded member of the United States Military. Burry represented Staff Sergeant Alex French IV. French was a member of the Army National Guard. He made the ultimate sacrifice for his country on September 30, 2009 when he was killed in duty while serving in Afghanistan. Burry carried a golf bag with French's name embroidered on it for the entirety of the competition.

With opponents spanning NCAA Division I, II, and III, the NAIA, AJGA and NJCAA and most coming from NCAA Division I Power-Five programs, Burry finished the three-round tournament shooting a 223 (+13). The junior shot a 74 in the first two rounds, while finishing with a 75 in the final round on Sunday. Burry tallied a total of eight birdies over the three days.
