(Mar. 2) - Junior Anthony
Fernandez led the Emory scoring effort with 22 points in a
76-65 setback to Case Western Reserve University.
The 6-foot-4 Fernandez hit nine-of-18 from the field and all four
of his free throw opportunities against the Spartans in registering
his 15th double-figure scoring performance of the season and
seventh of 20 or more points.
On the year, Fernandez led the Eagles in scoring (14.0 ppg) and was
second in rebounding (4.9 rpg). He was the club's top point
producer in 12 outings and top board man on five occasions.
(Feb. 23) - Junior Chad Hixon
averaged 13.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in helping the Eagles to a
split of a pair of road games.
Hixon turned in team highs with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a game
against Brandeis Friday evening before producing 15 points (second
high on the squad) and a club-best nine rebounds in an 80-79
double-overtime win at NYU.
The 6-foot-2 Hixon has scored in double figures in his last five
contests and in a total of 15 on the year. His double-double
at Brandeis was his second such effort of the season. Heading
into the Feb. 28 game vs. Case Western, he has either led or shared
for the team's scoring lead in seven games while claiming similar
distinction in rebounding on 11 occasions.
(Feb.16) - Junior Chad Hixon
averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a pair of home
games over the weekend.
In a 71-68 setback to No. 2-ranked Washington University, the
6-foot-2 Hixon tied for the team lead in scoring with 12 points
while pulling down five boards (second high on the team) and coming
up with a pair of steals. In Sunday's game against Chicago,
Hixon led all players with 13 points and paced the Eagles in both
rebounds (7) and steals (3). In the two games, he shot 52.9
percent from the floor (9-of-17) and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the
foul line.
He has scored in double figures in a total of 14 games this year
and in seven of the last eight contests.
(Feb. 9) - Freshman Alex
Gulotta put together back-to-back double-figure scoring
perfomances over the weekend.
At Rochester, Gulotta picked up 11 points, second high on the team,
hitting four-of-eight from the floor including three-of-six from
three-point range. In a Sunday contest at No. 23 Carnegie
Mellon, he registered a team-high 15 points, going four-of-eight
from the field including four-of-seven from beyond the arc.
In the two outings, he averaged 13.0 points while shooting 50
percent from the floor (8-of-16) and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from
distance.
A starter in four of his 17 outings, he has scored in 11 games.
(Feb. 2) - Junior Chad Hixon
averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in helping the Eagles to a
split of two UAA games.
In a 60-51 loss to No. 20-ranked Carnegie Mellon, the 6-foot-2
Hixon paced the team's scoring attack with a season-high 20 points
while tying for squad honors with five boards. Hixon hit
eight-of-14 from the floor, including one-of-two from three-point
range, and three-of-four from the charity stripe as he paced the
team in scoring for the fourth time this season. On Sunday,
he helped Emory to its first conference win, picking up 11 points
against the University of Rochester. Hixon hit
seven-of-eight from the foul line in that game including
four-of-four over the last 53 seconds of the contest.
Through games played Feb. 1, he leads the Eagles in rebounding with
a 5.6 per-game average, good for a ninth-place tie among UAA
players. He has scored in double figures on 10 occasions.
(Jan. 26) - Junior Anthony
Fernandez averaged 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5
steals in two UAA games over the weekend.
In a 57-55 loss to NYU, the 6-foot-4 Fernandez tied for the club's
scoring lead with 16 points and registered a pair of steals.
On Sunday, Fernandez came back with his third double-double of the
season (seventh of his career) with a team-best 23 points and 11
rebounds. He knocked down seven-of-12 from the field and all
eight of his free throw opportunities en route to his 11th
double-figure scoring effort of the season and sixth effort of 20
or more points.
All totaled, he shot 46.1 percent from the field in the two games
(12-of-26) and was successful on 14-of-16 free throws (87.5%).
(Jan. 19) - Senior John Kresse
averaged 7.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest in a
pair of UAA road games.
In an outing against Chicago, Kresse totaled six points, six
rebounds (second high on the team) two assists and a pair of
steals. Against No. 3-ranked Washington University, Kresse
went four-of-four from the floor en route to eight points while
picking up three rebounds and dishing out a pair of
assists.
Kresse is the lone Eagle to have started all 14 Emory contests this
year and he is averaging 7.0 points and a team-high 4.4 assists per
outing.
(Jan. 5) - Junior Daniel
Curtin scored in double figures in three games and was the
Eagles' top point producer in a pair of contests.
Curtin was the squad's second-high scorer with 12 points against
Greensboro College (Dec. 29) before totaling a team-best 10 points
the next evening at Guilford College (Dec. 30). Against
Huntingdon College, the 6-foot sharpshooter paced all players with
a career-best 29 points while tying his personal best with five
rebounds. Curtin sank nine-of-15 from the floor, including
five-of-10 from three-point range in helping Emory raise its record
to 5-6.
Over the three games, he connected on 50 percent of his field goal
opportunities (16-of-32) including 41.7 percent (10-of-24) from
three-point range. Heading into the UAA portion of the
schedule, he has posted double-figure scoring in his last four and
in nine contests this season.
(Dec. 15) - Junior Anthony
Fernandez came off the bench and totaled a team-best 22
points in helping the Eagles to a 77-66 win at home against the
University of the South on Dec. 9.
The 6-foot-3 Fernandez hit nine-of-14 from the floor and
four-of-five from the foul line in registering his fourth contest
of 20 or more points this season and eighth of his career.
Through seven games, Anthony is averaging a team-leading 17.7
points per outing and is second on the squad in rebounding (6.6
rpg). He has knocked down 50.5 percent from the field (49-of-97)
and 76.7 percent (23-of-30) from the foul line.
(Dec. 8) - Sophomore Julien Williams paced the
Eagles with a season-high tying 15 points and eight rebounds in
helping the squad to a 91-72 win at LaGrange on Dec. 3.
The 6-foot-2 Williams converted six-of-nine from the field and
two-of-three from the foul line to lead four Emory double-figure
scorers. The win over the Panthers enabled Emory to even its
mark at 3-3 on the year.
(Dec. 1) - Junior Chad Hixon
averaged 7.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in helping Emory to a
pair of wins in three outings.
In an 89-83 win at home over Oglethorpe University (Nov. 25), Hixon
posted a double-double of 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds
before coming back with a seven-board outing, second-high on the
squad, against LaGrange in helping the team to an 87-73 triumph
(Nov. 29). Hixon closed out the week by totaling 10 points, second
high on the team, along with a team-leading five rebounds against
Maryville in an 81-64 setback.
The 6-foot-3 Hixon has been the Eagles' leading rebounder on three
occasions this season and holds down the No. 2 spot on the team in
rebounding with a 7.6 per-game average.
(Nov. 24) - Senior John Kresse
averaged 7.0 points and 7.0 assists in the Eagles' first two games
of the season.
In an 89-81 overtime setback at Oglethorpe, the 6-foot-1 Kresse
totaled eight points, hitting four-of-seven from the floor, along
with seven assists with just one turnover in 35 minutes of
action. In a hard-fought 70-64 loss at Birmingham Southern,
Kresse finished with six points and seven assists in 26 minutes of
play.
Emory hosts Oglethorpe on Tuesday, Nov. 25 before taking on
LaGrange College (Nov. 29) and Maryville College (Nov. 30) this
weekend. Both the LaGrange and Maryville contests will be played at
Oglethorpe University.
