Adam Gigax Named UAA Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

Emory University senior Adam Gigax (Mason, OH) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week following his efforts in home contests against Carnegie Mellon and Case Western Reserve.  It is the first time this season and fourth occasion during his career that he has been chosen for the award.

The 6-foot-7 Gigax averaged 21.5 points and 6.0 rebounds over the two games, ending the weekend shooting 50 percent (14-28) from the floor, including 47.8 percent (11-23) from beyond the arc.

In an 82-77 triumph over CMU, Gigax topped all players with a season-high 26 points, sinking nine-of-19 from the floor, including a career-high tying six three-pointers in 14 tries. He tied for the No. 2 spot on the club with six boards. He closed out the weekend with a 17-point afternoon (13th double-figure scoring performance in as many outings this year) that saw him drain five treys in nine attempts, as the Eagles rolled to a 91-59 decision over Case Western. Gigax's effort allowed him to move into second place on the school's all-time list with 183 three-point field goals.

Emory, ranked 17th in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, has won its last eight games and stands 12-2 in overall action, 3-0 in the UAA. The Eagles face conference road tests this weekend when they play at New York University Friday evening (Jan. 19), followed by a Sunday afternoon bout vs. Brandeis.
