Emory Men's Basketball Hits The Road For Opening Rounds Of NCAA D-III Tournament

NCAA D-III Men's Bracket

The Emory men's basketball team will be travelling to Greensboro, North Carolina, and the campus of Guilford College for the opening rounds of the NCAA D-III Tournament.
The Eagles, 20-5 on the season, will battle Wittenberg University (23-5) of the North Coast Athletic Conference in first-round action on Friday (Mar. 1) at a time to be determined. The other first-round match-up sees host Guilford square off against Sewanee. The two winners then will move into Saturday's second round.

The Ragan-Brown Field House on the GC campus will serve as the venue.

The Eagles of head coach Jason Zimmerman were one of 43 programs to receive an automatic bid to the postseason after capturing the University Athletic Association title with a 92-82 triumph over the University of Rochester this past Saturday.  Emory will be making its seventh straight trip and eighth in program history to the NCAA Tournament and holds the distinction to being the lone D-III program to have won at least one postseason contest in each of the past six years.

The Tigers of Wittenberg, led by third-year Head Coach Matt Croci, earned an automatic bid to this weekend's action after winning their second straight NCAC Tournament Championship, bettering Wooster, 79-75, in the finals.

Friday's game against Wittenberg will mark the first-ever meeting on the hardwood between the two schools.
