Four Eagles Earn Men’s Soccer All-UAA Honors

Emory University men's soccer team members Jake Graetz, Nathan McKeever, Christopher Howie and Zach Samuels were all named to the all-University Athletic Association (UAA) team for their play during the 2009 campaign.

Graetz earned a spot on the all-UAA first team, while McKeever was named to the second team.  Howie and Samuels each earned all-UAA honorable mentions.  This is the first all-conference honor for all four players.

Graetz led the team in goals and points during the 2009 season, notching 10 scores, including four in conference matches.  The junior midfielder and co-captain scored two game-winning goals during the season, including one in conference play against Case Western Reserve University.  Graetz also helped with contributions on the defensive side of the ball, and started all 18 Emory games during the season.

In his first season on the team, McKeever was one of the key players on an Emory defense that recorded a 0.92 goals against average during the season and a 1.06 GAA against UAA opponents.  The sophomore started 17 of 18 games for the Eagles during the year, helping the team outshoot its opponents 247 - 177.

Howie led the Eagles with eight assists this season, and finished third on the team with 10 points.  The junior midfielder recorded two assists in UAA matches, and assisted on two game-winning goals.  In his second season on the team, Howie started all 18 games for the Eagles during the year.

Samuels was Emory's second-leading scorer in conference play with a goal and an assist, including the game-winning goal against Brandeis University, and an assist on the game-winning goal against Case Western Reserve.  The sophomore finished the season with five goals and six assists for 16 points, including three goals and three assists in the team's final six games.

Emory finished the 2009 season with a 12-4-2 record, including a mark of 2-3-2 in conference play, good for a fifth-place finish in the UAA.
