Emory University defender Adam Waxman was named
to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team,
based on his performance both on the field and in the classroom
this season.
Waxman has led an Emory backfield that has allowed a 0.84 team
goals against average this season, the 62nd-lowest mark
among all Division III teams. The junior has started 13 of 14
Emory games this season, helping the squad to a 10-3-1 record
during the campaign. Waxman and the rest of the Eagles'
backfield has held its opponents to just 8.1 shots per game, and
4.4 shots on goal per contest.
In the classroom, Waxman, an economics and philosophy major, has a
cumulative grade point average of 3.90, including a perfect 4.0 GPA
in the spring 2009 semester. This is the first postseason
honor of Waxman's collegiate career.
Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by the
College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Emory
nominees represent the "college division" in District 3 which is
composed of NCAA Division II and III, and NAIA schools in the
states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and
Virginia.
By virtue of earning a spot on the Academic All-District first
team, Waxman will be placed on the ballot for the ESPN The
Magazine Academic All-America team.
