Emory Looks to Make a Tournament Push in the Season’s Final Weekend

The Emory University men's soccer team will try to make a final push to get into postseason play, as the Eagles will wrap-up their regular season at home this weekend against 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University and the University of the South.

Saturday's match against the Tartans is slated for a 11:00 AM start, while Sunday's contest with the Tigers will begin at 3:00 PM.  The Eagles will also hold their annual ‘Senior Day' ceremonies on Sunday, where graduating senior Phillip Andreae will be honored.  Both matches will have live stats and webcasts.

The Eagles will begin play this weekend in fifth-place in the University Athletic Association (UAA) with a 2-3-1 record in conference matches, and an 11-4-1 record overall.  The Eagles, ranked eighth in the South Atlantic Region, are 2-2-1 at home this season.

Carnegie Mellon, ranked 11th in the Nation and second in the Great Lakes Region, will enter play on Saturday in a tie with the University of Rochester for first-place in the UAA with a 5-1-0 in-conference record.  The Tartans are 14-2-0 overall on the campaign and 6-2-0 away from home this season.

Last year, Emory fell to Carnegie Mellon 4-2 in Pittsburgh, PA, dropping to 10-10-2 all time against their conference foe.  Emory junior Jake Graetz has a career goal against the Tartans, and junior Graham Dekeyser has a career assist.

The University of the South will begin the weekend with a season record of 8-9-0, and will play at Oglethorpe University on Saturday before facing the Eagles on Sunday.  The Tigers have dropped six of their last seven matches, and are 2-4-0 in away matches this season.

Emory is 25-6-0 all time against the University of the South, in a series that dates back to 1971.  Last season, the Eagles defeated the Tigers 4-0 in Sewanee, TN.  Emory's Michael Scannapieco has two goals during his career against the Tigers.
