Emory University rolled to its fourth-straight win on Saturday,
as the men's soccer team defeated Greensboro College 4-0 in
Greensboro, NC.
Emory sophomore Nico Dalton struck first for the
Eagles, scoring his second goal in as many games, during the
36th-minute of play. Dalton's goal came off an
assist from Graham Dekeyser, his first of the
season and the second of the junior's career.
Jake Graetz would extend the Emory lead heading
into the half, converting on a penalty kick for his team-leading
fourth goal of the season. The penalty kick goal was the
second in as many attempts this season for Graetz, who has now
scored in four of Emory's five games this season.
It was more of the same for the Eagles in the second half, starting
with Christopher Howie's penalty kick goal in the
62nd minute to bring Emory's lead to 3-0. Dekeyser
would add an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute to go
along with his assist earlier in the game, and give the Eagles a
four goal lead.
The goal was the first goal of the season for Howie, who is second
on the team with seven points during the campaign. Dekeyser's
goal was his second of the year, a new career-best.
Emory goalkeeper Trenton Spindler played the first
68:36 shutout minutes in goal, making one save. The sophomore
has allowed just one goal in his last four games played, improving
his record to 4-1-0 on the season. Freshman Thomas
Brown concluded the game in goal, making one save as
well.
With the win, Emory improved to 4-1-0 on the season, while
Greensboro dropped to 0-4-1. The Eagles remained perfect
