Emory University sophomore Zach Samuels scored two goals,
including the game-winner, and assisted on another, leading the
Eagles to a 3-2 win at Maryville College on Friday night.
Samuels' performance helped the Eagles win their second-straight
contest, improving to 10-3-1 overall on the season. In the
process, Emory handed Maryville just its second loss of the season,
as the Scots dropped to 9-2-3 on the year.
After falling behind 1-0 late in the first half, Samuels assisted
on Jake Graetz's team-leading seventh goal of the
season in the 52nd minute of play to even the match.
Less than five minutes later, Samuels would put the Eagles on top
with an unassisted goal. After the Scots struck back to tie
the match in the 62nd minute, Samuels would score unassisted again
in the 77th minute, giving the Eagles the lead for good.
Samuels now has five goals and four assists this season, matching
Graetz for a team-best 14 points this year. In his last five
games, the sophomore has scored three goals and three assists,
including three goals and one assist in his last two outings.
