Graetz's Penalty Kick Goal Lifts Eagles Over Monarchs,

A penalty kick goal from Emory University junior Jake
Graetz was the difference for the Eagles on Saturday, as
Emory triumphed over Methodist University 1-0 at the Soccer for a
Cure Classic in Fayetteville, NC.
After a scoreless first half, a Methodist foul in the
66th minute resulted in a penalty kick for Graetz, the
Eagles leading scorer this season. Graetz was able to convert
on the opportunity, breaking the scoreless tie in Emory's
favor.
Graetz has now scored three goals for the Eagles this season, one
in each of Emory's first three games. In each Emory contest
this season, the junior midfielder has notched the team's first
goal.
Emory sophomore goalkeeper Trenton Spindler played
the entirety of the game, making three saves and recording his
first career shutout. Spindler improved to 2-1-0 for the
Eagles this season, allowing just two goals in 225 minutes for a
0.80 goals against average.
The win is the second in a row for the Eagles, who improved to
2-1-0 overall on the campaign. Methodist dropped to 1-4-0
with the loss.
Emory will be back in action at the Soccer for a Cure Classic at
10:00 AM tomorrow, as the Eagles will face Eastern Mennonite
University.
