In search of its first conference victory of the campaign, the
Emory University men's soccer team will return to Atlanta to face
New York University on Friday night, and Brandeis University on
Sunday afternoon.
Friday night's match against New York University will start at 5:00
PM, while Sunday's game will commence at 11:00 AM. Both games
will be webcasted live, which fans can access at
http://www.emoryathletics.com/information/webcasts.
Emory will enter the match with an 8-3-0 record this season,
including a 1-2-0 record at the Woodruff Physical Education Center
this season. The Eagles have dropped their first two
conference games of the season, falling to eighth-place in the
University Athletic Association (UAA). Emory is ranked
seventh in the South Atlantic Region, according to the latest NSCAA
poll.
New York University will enter Friday's contest with an overall
record of 4-6-1, and a mark of 1-5-0 on the road. In UAA
matches, the Violets are 0-1-1, placing them in a tie for
sixth-place. NYU is coming off a 1-1 tie against Case Western
Reserve last weekend.
Emory is 16-2-3 all time against New York University, including
two-straight wins and a 6-3 victory in New York last season.
In the last two meetings, the two teams have combined for a total
of 15 goals. During last season's meeting, current Eagle
Michael Scannapieco recorded an assist.
Brandeis will begin the weekend with a 4-6-1 overall record,
including a mark of 2-3-1 on the road, and will play at Carnegie
Mellon University on Friday before traveling to Emory. The
Judges are 1-1-0 in conference play, placing them in a three-way
tie for third place in the UAA.
The Eagles are 16-5-1 all time against the Judges, including a
12-0-0 mark at home. Emory has won two straight matches in
the series, following a 2-0 victory last season.

The Eagles currently rank 62nd in Division III in
winning percentage (.727), 85th in scoring offense (2.18
goals per game) and 87th in team goals against average
(0.91)... Emory midfielder Christopher Howie is
ranked 37th in Division III in assists per game
(0.55)... Eagles' goalkeeper Trenton Spindler is
ranked 67th in Division III in goals against average
(0.792) and 91st in save percentage (0.818)... The
Eagles have outscored their opponents 24-10 this season, and have
allowed just one first-half goal during the campaign... Emory is
still looking for its first conference goal, after being outscored
3-0 in its first two UAA contests of the season... Despite its
0-2-0 record in conference matches, the Eagles have outshot
conference opponents 20-19.
