Emory University's three-game undefeated streak came to a close
on Friday night, as the Eagles were handed a 2-0 defeat by their
conference-rival, the 11th-ranked University of
Rochester.
The match was a defensive battle between the two University
Athletic Association (UAA) squads. Despite the Yellowjackets
amassing 17 shots during the contest, only six of the chances were
on goal. Meanwhile, Emory was held to just four shots in the
contest, two of which were on goal.
After the two teams battled through a scoreless first half, the
Yellowjackets' Scott Cady struck with a goal in the 64th
minute. Rochester's Jake Cargill secured the victory with the
team's second goal in the 79th minute.
Emory fell to 10-4-1 on the season with the loss, including a 1-3-1
mark in UAA matches, good for sixth-place in the conference.
Rochester rose to 11-1-2, and remained in second place in the
conference with a 4-1-0 UAA record.
The Eagles will look to return to their winning ways on Sunday,
when Emory will play its final road match of the season in
Cleveland, OH against Case Western Reserve University at 11:00 AM.
