The Emory University men's soccer team lost its first game to a
Division III opponent this season on Sunday afternoon, as the
Eagles dropped their University Athletic Association (UAA) opener
to Washington University, 2-0.
The Bears got on the board in the first half, as Harry Beddo struck
with the game winner in the 13th minute, giving
Washington a 1-0 lead. Washington cemented its lead with a
John Hengel goal in the 81st minute, putting the game
out of reach for Emory.
Emory falls to 7-2-0 on the season with the loss and to 0-1-0 in
conference play, ending the team's seven-game winning streak.
Washington improved to 6-1-3 overall this year with the win.
Emory will return to action on Wednesday at 4:00 PM, as the Eagles
will make the trip across town to face Oglethorpe University.
