Emory University senior Adam Waxman, of the
ninth-ranked men’s soccer team, was named the Defensive
Player of the Week for the University Athletic Association (UAA),
after helping the Eagles to a 1-0 win over the University of
Chicago last Saturday.
Waxman played all 90 minutes of the contest, allowing just seven
total shots and four shots on goal. It was the
10th shutout overall this season for the Eagles’
defense, which recently saw its shutout streak end at 983 minutes
and 52 seconds of game time. Waxman and the Emory backline
has allowed just two goal over 12 games this season for a 0.16
goals-against average, the second-lowest mark among all Division
III teams this season.
This was the first career conference Athlete of the Week honor for
Waxman. It also marks the sixth time in as many weeks this
season that an Emory player has earned the award.
Waxman and the rest of the Eagles have an 11-0-1 record during the
campaign, and currently sit in a three-way tie for first place in
the University Athletic Association.
