The undefeated and nationally ninth-ranked Emory University
men's soccer team will return to the Woodruff P.E. Center
this weekend to face the University of Chicago on Saturday at 1:30
PM, in its first home University Athletic Association (UAA) match
of the campaign.

Emory University Eagles
The Eagles will enter Saturday's game with a 9-0-1
record, including a 5-0-0 record at home this season. Emory
is coming off its first tie of the season last Sunday, playing a
scoreless double-overtime match at Washington University
(Mo.). Emory currently ranks second among all Division III
schools with a 0.978 save percentage, third with 3.7 goals per
game, 37 total goals, a 0.10 goals against average and a 0.9
shutout percentage, and fourth with a 0.950 won-lost-tied
percentage. The Eagles are led by head coach Sonny
Travis, who is 53-9-4 during his four seasons with the
team.
University of Chicago Maroons
The Maroons are 7-3-0 this season, including a 3-1-0 record in
road matches. In their UAA opener on Saturday, Chicago pulled
out a 2-1 upset win in the second overtime period over then-second
ranked Carnegie Mellon University at home. The team is led by
head coach Scott Wiercinski, who is 40-31-12 with the
Maroons.
Matchup History
Emory is 15-6-2 all time against Chicago, including a 1-0 loss
last season on the road. The Eagles are 7-3-1 all time at
home against the Maroons.
Around the UAA
With one game in the books for each UAA team, Chicago and Case
Western Reserve University are tied for first in the conference
with a 1-0-0 UAA record. Emory, Washington, the University of
Rochester and New York University are all tied for third with a
0-0-1 record, while Carnegie Mellon University and Brandeis
University are each 0-1-0. Other matches across the UAA on
Saturday include NYU at Case and Brandeis at Rochester, while
Washington will play at Carnegie Mellon on Sunday.

Emory junior Trenton Spindler was named the
UAA's Defensive Athlete of the Week for men's soccer
this week, marking the second time this season he has earned the
honor… An Emory player has earned the
conference's defensive honor in each of the first five weeks
this season… Spindler currently ranks third among all NCAA
Division III players with a 0.973 save percentage and fourth with a
0.117 goals against average… Junior Zach
Samuels is ranked eighth in Division III with seven
assists, and 11th with 0.7 assists per game…
Emory has recorded a program-record eight consecutive shutouts,
allowing just one goal in 920 minutes this season.
