The Emory University men’s soccer team, ranked 18^th among NCAA Division III teams, will return to the Woodruff P.E. Center on Friday, hosting non-conference opponent Maryville College (Tenn.) at 7:00 PM.

Emory University Eagles
Emory will enter the game with an 11-1-2 overall record, including a perfect 7-0-0 record at home this season.  The Eagles are ranked 18^th in the latest NSCAA poll, and ninth in the D3Soccer.com poll, both of which were released on Tuesday.  Emory is also ranked third in the NSCAA South Atlantic Region poll.  The team will look to bounce back from an 0-1-1 weekend, after losing 1-0 at New York University on Friday, and tying at Brandeis University, 1-1, on Sunday.  The Eagles are led offensively by junior Zach Samuels, who has a team-high 20 points with six goals and eight assists, and sophomore Andrew Natalino, who has scored a team-best seven goals during the year.  Defensively, junior Trenton Spindler has a 0.24 goals against average and a .943 save percentage during the season, while the Emory defense has allowed just 4.4 shots on goal per game in 2010.  Emory is led by head coach Sonny Travis, who is 55-10-5 during his four seasons with the squad.

Maryville College Scots
After dropping their first three games of the season, the Scots have been on fire as of late, going 9-1-1 over their last 11 games and have an overall record of 9-4-1.  Maryville is 7-3-0 in road games this season, including a 1-0 win at Oglethorpe University on Monday, the team’s third-straight shutout win.  Offensively, Maryville is led by junior Tom Webster, who leads the team with six goals, four assists and 16 total points, while senior goalkeeper Bryan Walker has started all 14 games for the Scots, recording a 0.93 goals against average and a .822 save percentage.  The Scots are coached by Pepe Fernandez, who is 270-115-25 during his 21 seasons with the team.

Center.  Last season, Emory won 3-2 at Maryville, behind a five-point day from Samuels, consisting of two goals (including the game winner) and an assist.

UAA Update
Emory currently sits in a tie with the 21^st-ranked University of Rochester for fourth in the UAA, as both squads have a 1-1-2 record in conference matches for five points.  Leading the way in the UAA is New York University (2-0-2), followed by 15^th-ranked Washington University (2-1-1) and Case Western Reserve University (2-2-0).  Currently behind Emory are Brandeis, 25^th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Chicago, which are all 1-2-1 in UAA matches this season.  All eight teams are off from conference play this weekend, with each facing non-conference opponents during the course of the week.

Emory Notes
This season marks the seventh time since 1982 that Emory has lost just one game through its first 14 contests… Zach Samuels currently ranks 21^st among all Division III players with eight assists, and 28^th with 0.57 assists per game… He also has five game-winning assists this season, one shy of the school single-season record, set by Karl Dix in 2005… Samuels’ eight career game-winning assists are the sixth-most in Emory history… Trenton Spindler currently ranks second in the nation with a 0.943 save percentage, and fifth with a 0.24 goals against average… Emory’s 16 different goal scorers this season match a school record... Samuels, Andrew Natalino and Nathan McKeever are the only three Eagles to have started all 14 games this season.
