Emory Men’s Soccer to Host Berry for Homecoming

The Emory University men's soccer team will look to highlight the school's homecoming weekend on Saturday, as the Eagles will host Berry College at 1:30 PM.

Emory Eagles
Emory currently stands at 3-4-0 during the 2011 season, including a record of 3-2-0 in home games.  The team is coming off a split last weekend, with an impressive 5-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan College on Friday, followed by a 3-0 loss to Guilford College on Sunday.  The Eagles are led by head coach Sonny Travis, who holds a 59-15-5 record during his four seasons with the team, and a 355-108-42 record during his 25-year career.

Berry Vikings
Berry will enter Saturday's contest with a 2-2-1 record, including a 1-2-0 mark in road games during the year.  After winning their first two games of the season, the Vikings have gone 0-2-1 over their last three games, including a 1-1 tie at home against Virginia Wesleyan College on Sunday.  Berry is led by 10th-year head coach Richard Vardy, who has an overall record of 136-46-10 with the squad.

Saturday's game will mark the renewal of an old rivalry between Emory and Berry, as the two schools have met 17 teams, but not since the 1993 season.  The history between the two squads dates back to the 1971 season, when the teams met for the first time, with the Eagles coming away with an 8-0 win.    Emory is 8-8-1 all time against Berry.

Saturday's game will mark the final game of a season-long six game home stand for the Eagles… Zachary Rosenberg and Andrew Natalino are tied for 60th among Division III players with three assists, and are ranked 155th with 0.43 assists per game… Natalino is also ranked 239th with seven points this season… Javier Puga and Jeffrey Cochran are each ranked 175 among Division III players with two assists apiece... As a team, the Eagles have outshot their opponents 114-51, including a 53-29 advantage in shots on goal… Emory will kick off conference play next Saturday at 12:00 PM at the University of Chicago.
