Eagles Set to Take on Chicago in UAA Men’s Soccer Opener

The Emory University men's soccer team will open its conference schedule this weekend, as the Eagles will travel to the University of Chicago to face their University Athletic Association (UAA) rival at 12:00 PM ET on Saturday.

Emory Eagles
The Eagles will enter the game with a 4-4-0 record, following the team's 3-0 win over Berry College at home last Saturday.  Emory has lost its only true road game of the season, and is 0-2-0 in games away from the Woodruff P.E. Center this season.  The Eagles are led by head coach Sonny Travis, who holds a 60-15-5 record during his five seasons with the team, and a 356-108-42 record during his 25-year career.

Chicago Maroons
Chicago will begin play this weekend with a 5-1-2 record, including a 1-0-1 mark in home games.  The Maroons, who received votes in the latest D3Soccer.com poll and are ranked fifth in the Central Region, are coming off a 1-1 tie against 20th-ranked North Park on Tuesday.  Chicago features leading scorer Stanton Coville, who is ranked 210th among Division III players with 0.5 goals per game, and goalkeeper Elek Lane, who is 13th in Division III with a 0.35 goals against average and 98th with a 0.818 save percentage.  The Maroons are led by head coach Scott Wiercinski, who is 46-37-15 during his six years with the squad.

The Eagles are 16-6-2 all time against the Maroons, including an 8-3-1 mark in Chicago.  Last season in Atlanta, Emory defeated Chicago 1-0 behind an 81st minute goal from Zach Samuels.  Four of the last five meetings between the two teams have been decided by one goal.
