Emory University freshman Dylan Price struck gold in the second sudden-death overtime period against Covenant College, scoring the game-winning goal in the 107^th minute to lift the Eagles to a 1-0 win over the Scots in Lookout Mountain, GA Wednesday night.

Price's goal was set up by his fellow freshman, Jeffrey Cochran.  After his throw-in was cleared out by the Covenant defense, Cochran was able to recollect the ball, launching it back towards the goal.  From inside the box, Price was able to make contact with the ball, heading it into the back of the net to break the scoreless tie at the 106:16 mark for his first career 'golden goal.' 

It was the third goal of the season for Price, and the first game-winning goal of the forward's collegiate career.  Cochran picked up his third assist of the season, tying him for the team lead.   

The first half was a back and forth defensive battled between the Eagles and the Scots, with the two teams combining for just nine total shots.  Five of those shots belonged to Emory, which managed to place four of them on goal, despite being unable to score.  Meanwhile, the Eagles held Covenant without a shot on goal during the first frame.

The Eagles came out firing to start the second half, taking four corner kicks and three shots within the first five minutes of the frame.  However, Emory once again failed to score, with the series of attacks capped off with a save from Covenant keeper John Eger on a header attempt from junior Alex Scott.

The Eagles would once again outshoot Covenant in the second frame, 9-6, including a 4-2 edge in shots on goal, but once again, neither team would score, sending the game into extra time.

Emory continued to receive the majority of the chances into the overtime periods, outshooting Covenant 4-1 in the first overtime, and 3-1 in the second extra period, including Price's eventual game-winning shot.  Emory finished the game with a 21-12 edge in shots, including an 11-3 edge in shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Alex Wong picked up his fourth shutout through six starts this season, as his record improved to 6-1-0 for the campaign.  He made three saves in the game, including one in overtime, and lowered his season goals-against average to 0.459 for the season.

With the win, the Eagles are now 6-4-0 on the campaign, while Covenant's record dropped to 2-6-2.  It was the second-straight road win for Emory, and the team's third-straight victory overall, a season-long streak.

Emory will now return home after their brief two-game road trip, hosting University Athletic Association (UAA) rival and ninth-ranked Washington University (Mo.) at 11:00 AM on Sunday.

Price's 'golden goal' was the 22^nd in the history of the Emory men's soccer program… It was the first 'golden goal' by an Eagle since November 1, 2009, when former Eagle Jake Graetz scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime during a 2-1 win over Case Western Reserve… Emory's last five 'golden goals' have taken place on the road… Emory has held its opponents scoreless for the last 290 minutes and 29 seconds… Junior Andrew Natalino led all players with five shots during the game, four of which were on goal… Emory took 10 corner kicks in the game, compared to just one for Covenant.
