Eagles to Open Final Road Trip of the Season at Case & Rochester this Weekend

The Emory University men's soccer team will open up a four-game road trip this weekend, the team's final road swing of the 2011 campaign, playing at Case Western Reserve University at 5:00 PM on Friday, and at the University of Rochester at 11:00 AM on Sunday, both University Athletic Association (UAA) contests.

Emory Eagles
Emory is 6-5-0 in 2011, including records of 2-2-0 in games away from the Woodruff Physical Education Center and 1-1-0 in UAA games.  The Eagles are currently in a four-way tie for third-place in the conference.  Emory is led by head coach Sonny Travis, who holds a 62-16-5 record during his five seasons with the team, and a 358-109-42 record during his 25-year career.

Case Western Reserve will begin the weekend with an overall record of 9-3-0, including a mark of 4-1-0 record in home games.  At 1-1-0 in conference play, the Spartans are currently tied with the Eagles for third-place in the UAA, and are ranked fifth in the Great Lakes Region.  Case's Vinny Bell leads the team with 14 goals and six assists for 34 points this season, while goalkeeper Ben Yabrow ranks 63rd with a 0.811 goals against average and 108th with a 0.8 save percentage.  The Spartans are led by head coach Dan Palmer, who is 79-50-15 during his eight seasons with the team.

Rochester received votes in this week's NSCAA Division III poll, and is currently ranked fourth in the East Region.  The Yellowjackets will begin the weekend with an overall record of 7-2-1, including a perfect 6-0-0 record at home.  Rochester is also 1-0-1 in conference play, good for second in the UAA and just two points behind first-place Washington University (Mo.).  Yellowjackets' goalkeeper Scott Garfing is currently ranked 15th among Division III players with a 0.475 goals against average and 41st with a 0.852 save percentage.  Rochester is coached by Chris Apple, who has a 130-31-22 record during his 10 years with the team.

Emory utilized a four-goal second half outburst to defeat Rochester 4-0 at the Woodruff Physical Education Center last season.  Nao Masuda picked up a hat trick in the game, scoring his three goals with a 22 minute stretch. Emory is 13-9-2 all time against Rochester.

The Eagles' upcoming four-game road trip will be the team's longest road swing of the season… Emory is 38-35-12 all time in UAA road games… Emory goalkeeper Alex Wong ranks 39th among Division III players with a 0.651 goals against average and 61st with a 0.828 save percentage… Emory has outscored its opponents 16-3 in its six victories this season, including five shutouts… Despite taking nearly three times as many shots as their opponents in the team's losses this season (89-30), the Eagles have been outscored 12-3 in their five defeats… The Eagles have outscored opponents 12-8 in the second half of games this year.
