Emory Men’s Soccer Wins 2-1 at Piedmont

The Emory University men's soccer team picked up its second-straight win Wednesday night, defeating Piedmont College 2-1 in Demorest, GA.

The Eagles were paced offensively by freshman Dylan Price, who scored the first goal and assisted on the game-winning goal.  Price gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute, scoring his fifth goal of the season off a deflected ball.

In the 74th minute, Price crossed a ball to sophomore Andrew Jones, who was able to finish the play for his fifth goal of the season.  It was the first career assist for Price, and Andrew Natalino also picked up an assist on the play, his team-leading fourth of the year.

Both Jones and Price are now tied with Zach Samuels and Natalino for the team lead in goals this season.  Price is also tied with Samuels for second on the squad with 11 points, while Natalino leads all Emory players with 14 points.

Piedmont made a late comeback attempt, as Sidney Smith scored in the 86th minute to pull the Lions back within a goal.  However, the Eagles were able to keep Piedmont off the board over the final four minutes and hold on for the victory.

The Eagles' offense managed 18 shots during the game, 14 of which were on goal.  Meanwhile, Emory's defense turned in a successful performance, limiting Piedmont to three shots and two shots on goal, both season-best marks for the Eagles' backfield.

Goalkeeper Andrew Goldblum made one save to earn his second win in as many starts, improving to 2-0-0 on the season.

Emory improved to 8-6-0 for the season with the win, while Piedmont dropped to 5-7-1 on the campaign in the loss.

Emory will play its final road game of the season on Saturday against Maryville College (Tenn.) at 4:30 PM ET.
